Professional SCHOOL BASED ORIENTATION
Standard Covered
Rationale The 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) is
an initiative in the Philippines aimed at raising awareness and
mobilizing efforts to eliminate various forms of gender-based
violence. This campaign typically runs from November 25 to
December 12 each year. The dates are significant as they encompass
key observances such as the International Day for the Elimination of
Violence Against Women on November 25 and International Human
Rights Day on December 10.
The campaign is part of the Philippine government's commitment
to protecting the human rights of women and girls, as outlined in the
1987 Constitution. By addressing gender-based violence, the
government aims to create a society where women and girls can live
free from the threat of harm and discrimination.
Throughout the 18-Day Campaign, various activities and events
are organized to promote awareness, education, and advocacy against
violence directed at women. These activities may include seminars,
workshops, forums, and community outreach programs to engage
individuals and communities in the fight against gender-based
violence. The campaign encourages collaboration between
government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the
public to work together in creating a safer and more supportive
environment for women and girls.
By upholding the principles embedded in the constitution and
actively participating in the 18-Day Campaign, the Philippine
government seeks to make progress in preventing and addressing
violence against women, contributing to the broader goal of fostering
gender equality and protecting human rights.
Objectives Terminal:
To raise awareness about Violence Against Women and Children
(VAWC) and empower participants to take action.
Enabling
1. Raise awareness about the prevalence and various forms of
violence against women;
2. Provide education and information about the consequences of
violence against women and its violation of human rights.
3. Gather public support for the campaign.
