Petrarchan Sonnet

total of 14.

Haiku is a traditional Japanese poetic form with
a 3 line poem, which has a 5-7-5 syllable count
Haikus often focus on nature or moments of
reflection and aim to capture a brief, vivid
impression or emotion.

What are the rules for structuring a haiku?
Traditionally, a haiku meets the following requirements:
It has three lines.
It has five syllables in the first and third lines.
It has seven syllables in the second line.
Its lines don’t rhyme.
It includes a kireji, or cutting word.
It includes a kigo, a seasonal reference.

The term was coined “heroic” for it was seen as a form where a
high subject matter can be written about it.
Heroic couplets have been used in English poetry for
centuries and are often associated with classical and
neoclassical poetry.
