Dear 4H Parents,

Our class’s performance in EYE has a very wide range, so I will not discuss our performance as a
whole in the various components.

If you child needs to revise her P4 work, she can make use of 学乐 xuele, the digital resources
that she can find in SLS.

Below are my suggestions on what you can do to help your child in this holiday. To put it very
simply, if your child has a weak foundation, I strongly suggest making use of this holiday to focus
a lot on more listening, speaking and reading than writing. This will help to strengthen her
foundation.
Below are some of the websites you can use. Watching the videos will increase exposure to the
language, which is what our class lack.

If you find that your child is not fluent in Chinese sentence (she knows what she wants to say but
cannot say it fluently in Mandarin), then you can try the website below. You can also type “Basic
Chinese for beginner’ or “basic Chinese conversation” to look for suitable websites.

Under the titile “Drama”, you can also find Chinese drama to watch with your child.

Take note:
1) Doing the exercises more often, like everyday or at least 5 times in a week, around 15 min
each time, is better than doing it 2 hour once a week. This is because we want exposure, doing it
more often will help to better acquire the language. If you can can your child to form the habit of
watching the video at a fix time everyday, that would be great.
2) Try to do the learning with your child, don’t leave her alone to watch the video all the time.
Although it is watching videos, but it is still different for the class, your company and involvement
will be a motivation for her.
