Nyi Roro Kidul.”

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess named Kadita. Because of her beauty, she
was called Dewi Srengenge, which means the fairest sun. Not only that, she was also
beautiful deep in her soul, and she was always generous and kind to everyone she met. Her
father was King Munding Wangi. Even though he had a beautiful daughter, he was still
unhappy because he expected to have a son.

The King then married Dewi Mutiara, and he had a son from her. The king was very happy.
Dewi Mutiara wanted her son to become king in the future, so she had to make sure of it.
Dewi Mutiara then came to the king and asked him to send away his daughter. Do you think
the King will fulfill that kind of request? Of course not. "That’s ridiculous; I will not allow
anyone to do such a cruel thing to my daughter," said King Munding Wangi. Furiously, Dewi
Mutiara then smiled and calmed the King down until he was not angry anymore.

Dewi Mutiara then came up with another idea. What was that? Dewi Mutiara called a witch
named Nenek Jahil. She wanted Nenek Jahil to curse Kadita. "I want her beautiful body filled
with scabies and itch." "If you succeed, I will reward you with the present you never thought of
before," said Dewi Mutiara. Nenek Jahil did the queen order. And in the middle of the night,
Nenek Jahil chanted a spell: "Even wind, listen, not that I blab blow and make her full of
scabs". Suddenly, Kadita’s room smelled very bad, like a corpse, and when she woke up, she
found her body stinky and had ulcers all over her body. The beautiful princess cried and did
not know what to do.

When the king heard it, he was very sad. Then he invited many physicians to cure his
daughter's illness. Day by day, nobody could cure his daughter. He realized that his
daughter's illness was not an ordinary illness; someone must have sent a curse or magic
spell. His problem became more difficult when Dewi Mutiara forced him to send his daughter
away. "Your daughter will bring bad luck to the whole country," said Dewi Mutiara. The king
did not want his daughter to become a bad rumor in the whole country. Can you guess what
the king would do? Finally, he must agree to send his only daughter to leave the country.

The poor princess went alone; she didn’t know where she should go. She almost could not
cry anymore. But she had a noble heart; she did not have any bad feelings about her
stepmother; instead, she always asked God to accompany her through her suffering.

Night and day, she walked, and it was the seventh night when she finally arrived at the South
Beach Ocean. As she began to admire the beauty of the beach, she heard a voice that told
her to go into the sea. Did she follow the voice? Yes, she did. Can you guess what happened
next? When her body touched the water, magically she had completely recovered, and even
more, she became more beautiful than before. Not only that, she had the power to command
the whole of the South Ocean. Now she was a fairy called Nyi Roro Kidul, or The Queen of
the South Ocean, who lived forever.

Dahulu kala, ada seorang putri cantik bernama Kadita. Karena kecantikannya ia dipanggil Dewi
Srengenge yang artinya Matahari yang indah. Tidak hanya itu, dia juga cantik jauh di lubuk hatinya
dan dia selalu murah hati dan baik kepada semua orang yang dia temui. Ayahnya adalah Raja
Munding Wangi. Meskipun dia memiliki seorang putri yang cantik, dia selalu tidak bahagia karena dia
selalu berharap memiliki seorang putra.

Raja kemudian menikahi dengan Dewi Mutiara, dan dia memiliki seorang putra darinya. Raja sangat
senang. Dewi Mutiara ingin putranya menjadi raja di masa depan sehingga dia harus memastikannya.
Dewi Mutiara mendatangi raja dan memintanya untuk mengusir putrinya. Apakah kalian pikir raja akan
memenuhi permintaannya? Tentu saja tidak. “Ini konyol, saya tidak akan membiarkan ada orang yang
melakukan hal kejam seperti itu kepada putri saya”, kata Raja Munding Wangi. Dengan penuh
kemarahan, Dewi Mutiara tersenyum dan menenangkan Raja sampai ia tidak marah lagi..

Dewi Mutiara kemudian memiliki dengan ide lain. Apa itu? Dewi Mutiara memanggil seorang penyihir
bernama Nenek Jahil. Dia ingin Nenek Jahil mengutuk Kadita. “Saya ingin tubuhnya yang indah
penuh dengan kudis dan gatal-gatal. Jika kamu berhasil, aku akan menghadiahimu dengan hadiah
yang tidak pernah kamu pikirkan sebelumnya”, kata Dewi Mutiara. Nenek Jahil melakukan perintah
ratu. Dan di tengah malam, Nenek Jahil melantunkan mantra, “Bahkan angin tidak mendengarkan
bahwa aku mengoceh dan membuatnya penuh keropeng”. Tiba-tiba kamar Kadita berbau sangat
busuk seperti mayat, dan ketika dia bangun, dia menemukan tubuhnya bau busuk dan ada borok di
sekujur tubuhnya. Putri cantik itu menangis dan tidak tahu harus berbuat apa.

Ketika Sang Raja mendengar dia sangat sedih, dia mengundang banyak tabib untuk menyembuhkan
penyakit putrinya. Hari demi hari tidak ada yang bisa menyembuhkan putrinya. Ia menyadari bahwa
penyakit putrinya itu bukanlah penyakit biasa seseorang pasti mengirimkan kutukan atau mantra sihir.
Masalahnya semakin sulit ketika Ratu Dewi Mutiara memaksanya untuk mengusir putrinya. “Putrimu
akan membawa kesialan ke seluruh negeri, kata Dewi Mutiara. Raja tidak ingin putrinya menjadi
rumor buruk di seluruh negeri. Dapatkan kamu menebak apa yang akan dilakukan oleh Raja?
Akhirnya dia harus setuju untuk mengirim putri satu-satunya untuk meninggalkan istana.

Putri malang pergi sendiri, dia tidak tahu ke mana dia harus pergi. Dia hampir tidak bisa menangis
lagi. Dia memiliki hati yang mulia. Ia tidak memiliki perasaan yang tidak enak dengan ibu tirinya,
sebaliknya ia selalu meminta kepada Tuhan untuk menemani melewati penderitaannya.

Siang dan malam dia berjalan dan pada malam ketujuh dia akhirnya tiba di Laut Pantai Selatan. Saat
dia mulai mengagumi keindahan pantai, dia mendengar suara yang menyuruhnya pergi ke laut.
Apakah dia mengikuti suara itu? Ya benar. Bisakah Anda menebak apa yang terjadi selanjutnya?
Ketika tubuhnya menyentuh air, secara ajaib dia telah pulih sepenuhnya dan bahkan dia menjadi lebih
cantik dari sebelumnya. Tidak hanya itu, dia memiliki kekuatan untuk menguasai seluruh samudra
selatan. Kini ia menjadi bidadari bernama Nyi Roro Kidul atau Ratu Laut Selatan yang hidup
selamanya.

Nah pemirsa apa yang bisa kita pelajari dari cerita ini adalah kecemburuan dan keserakahan hanya
menyebabkan kesengsaraan bagi orang lain dan jangan pernah kehilangan iman/kepercayaan karena
