SUBJECT: MELTING OF FUSE LINKS INSTALLED ON ENCLOSURE

FIRE SHUTTERS IN HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE AREAS

Purpose:
To announce the availability of new fuse links rated at a higher temperature.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Fuse links rated at 160F (P/N 954123C1) are installed on all enclosures equipped with fire shutters.
The 160F fuse links are melting on some packages that are exposed to extremely high ambient
temperatures resulting in inadvertent fire shutter closure. It is suggested that a higher rated (212F)
fuse link (P/N 954122C1) be used on packages exposed to extremely high ambient temperatures
(Figure 1).

The replacement fuse link (P/N 954122C1) may be ordered from the Solar Service Parts Distribu-
tion Center serving your area.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
1. Obtain access to fire shutter fuse link. (Figure 2 depicts a typical fire shutter installation.)
2. Hold shutter in place and remove existing fuse link (160F, P/N 954123C1).

 3. Install 212F rated fuse link (P/N 954122C1).

NOTE
Inspect fuse link to ensure 212F is stamped on body as shown in Figure 1.
