COURSE SYNOPSIS

General Introduction to Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy (Histology) and Developmental


Anatomy (Embryology). The lower limb and the upper limb: Gross Anatomy, Musculoskeletal
Histology and Embryology.

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:

At the end of this course students should have understood the microscope, and the organisation
of organs they see in the anatomy dissection from the cellular level through the tissue level.
They should also be able to relate histology to the function of particular regions of organs in the
build of the entire human organism.

(i) INTRODUCTION TO HISTOLOGY

Lecture 1 - Methods used in Histology, tissue preparation, Histo-chemistry and

Cyto-chemistry, microscopy.

Lecture 2 - Cell cytoplasm

Lecture 3 - Cell Nucleus

Lecture 4 - Tissues concept and Classification

Lecture 5 - Epithelial Tissue

Lecture 6 - Connective tissue

Lecture 7 - Cartilage and Bone

Lecture 8 - Muscle Tissue and Adipose tissue

Lecture 9 - The blood and Lymphatic system

Lecture 10 - Integumentary system.
