НА ТЕМУ: ДЕНЬ СВЯТОГО ВАЛЕНТИНА
Theme: World Celebrations
Title: St. Valentine's Day
Party Equipment: Cupid costume (wings), flower, attributes for the Muse of Love
and Joy, selection of tunes for a dance contest, ribbons for nominations (or
certificates).
Format: Competition Game Objective of the game:
1. Develop spontaneous speech in students.
2. Foster students' creative abilities.
3. Encourage learning of the subject.
4. Consolidate students' cultural knowledge acquired in English language classes.
Educational objectives:
1. Through creative, individual, and group work with didactic materials, reinforce
students' knowledge of themes ("Numbers," "Traditions of the World and
Ukraine," etc.).
2. Expand general knowledge.
Developmental objectives:
1. Develop teamwork skills and collaborative decision-making.
2. Foster positive personal qualities (responsibility, kindness, sense of mutual
assistance).
3. Develop and exercise attention, memory, and thinking skills.
Educational objectives: Instill respect for the cultures of one's own country and the
countries whose languages are being studied.
Classroom Decoration: On the board, the title of the holiday "St. Valentine's Day,"
valentines, list of competitions.
Duration: 45 minutes
 Procedure

Sounds melody Sting "Shape of my heart". At the scene there is a sad

girl.
GIRL: I’m disappointed in LOVE. I believed that one fine day I would meet
my prince. But I am still lonely. There is no Love at all.
The sounds of thunder. The lights go out. Cupid appears.
CUPID: My fair lady, you shouldn’t say so! You’ll make our Gods angry.
Love existes. But only pure heart can feel it. Besides today is St.Valentine’s day and
Love is in the air.
GIRL: I know that in Europe and in the USA on this day boys and girls, wives
and husbands, even the office staff exchange with greetings, presents and valentine’s
cards. But I think it is stupid to wait for this day for telling someone “I love you”. It is
false.
CUPID: But do you know that this holiday has roots in several legends?
GIRL: What do you mean?
CUPID: According to one this day is connected with an ancient Roman
Festival called Lupercalia. This was on February, 15 to honor the patron of husbandry
The next story tells us that St. Valentine was a priest who would marry young
couples secretly when the Roman Emperor Claudius 2 forbade marriages. He
believed that single man were better soldiers.
Another story tells us about St. Valentine who was a good friend to children.
He was against the Roman Gods and that is why he was put in prison. When he was
imprisoned the children brought him loving letters. It was on February, 14.
GIRL: But it is only a legend. There are no such examples in real life.
CUPID: Tonight I’ll prove that you are wrong. And my sister JOY and her
majesty LOVE will come to you and I’m sure you’ll change your mind.
GIRL: But I need facts. I won’t believe untill I see everything with my own
eyes.
CUPID: Do you remember story about Eva and Adam, Josephine and
Napoleon, Beyonce and Jay Z? I helped them to meet.
 GIRL: I do remember something like that.
CUPID: So, look (Shows on stage. Starts cards. After each performance
Cupid girl and discussed what they saw)

CUPID: But not only these couples believe in love.

(Music break)
CUPID: Here is my sister, Muse of Joy. She’ll accompany you further.
JOY: Hello, my child! Come with me.
GIRL: with pleasure. I could hardly believe with my eyes. So, I shall not be a
bit surprise.
JOY: Wait a minute. You know that everyone, who is in love, enjoy greeting
his second half. They present flowers, sweets, they write poems to their sweethearts.
GIRL: So, what?
JOY: Looh at the stage, how our lovings do it.
The competition presents
CUPID: Aren’t they touching?!
CUPID: It is so beautiful!
CUPID: I could hardly remember something better.
CUPID: They are really in love!
CUPID: And here is a present for you! (Speaking to the audience)

JOY: You know that some people believe that love was dawning in dancing.
And only dancing people could show their real feelings.
GIRL: Is it true?
JOY: Of course. Look at our couples. They are really beautiful and they can
show you in dancing how they love each other. Let’s start our ball.
GIRL: I want to dance with you!
CUPID: Her majesty LOVE!
GIRL: I do believe in Love. I was wrong. I watched everything having helped
my breath. Now I know my prince is waiting for me somewhere and we shall
definetly meet each other.
 So cupid without wings, he became a man. Attributable to one knee,
giving the girl a flower.
CUPID: Here is a special valentine
With lots of love for you,
And since you are very special
Here are hugs and kisses, too!
LOVE: So, our GIRL has found her love and joy. And I want to make some
pleasure for you, my dear! I want all Valentines and Valentinas, those, who have
mums and dads with this name, to come at the stage! I have some presents for you!
But first of all, answer what love is for you.
So, and now our SUPREME GODDNESSES will proclaim the results of our
exiting show and choose the KING and the QUEEN of the BALL.

Additional tasks:
