HB EPOXY ZINC PHOSPHATE PRIMER – GREY

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Polyamide cured Epoxy two component systems enriched with Zinc Phosphate
anti-corrosive pigments, which offers excellent corrosion protection on metal
structures in industrial and marine environments.

SCOPE:

Epoxy Zinc Phosphate primer can be applied on pre-treated steel surfaces of as

an anti-corrosive primer in chemical, fertilizer, pharmaceutical, off shore
industries and also as general industrial coating. This primer can be top coated
with Epoxy, Polyurethane and even chlorinated rubber based top coat paints
depending on the speciation requirements.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Remove the oil contaminants by wiping with cleaning solvents. Mechanical

sanding with appropriate emery paper or blast cleans the surface to sa2½
Swedish standard. Ensure the surface is free from any dust and dry before the
application of primer coat. Primer has to be applied within 2 hrs of surface
preparation to get the best results.

APPLICATION:

Stir the part- A manually / mechanically and mix with the part – B in a specified
ratio by volume to get uniform consistency.

Brush: Apply the mixed paint without adding thinner for dilution.

Conventional Spray: Add 10 – 20 % thinner for Epoxy and mix it properly and
apply uniform coat at a pressure of 40 – 50 psi.

Airless spray: Apply the paint mixture without thinner. However, if required,
add less than 5 5 thinner and apply through appropriate equipment having the
pump ration of 30:1 with nozzle size of 0.017 to 0.019 with nozzle pressure of
120 to 160 Kg/cm2.
GALVANISED STEEL AND ALUMINIUM SURFACE

As the above surfaces have different surface chemistry, a coat of Chemoxy Etch
primer will ensure the adhesion of the primer coat.

POINTS TO NOTE:

Use the mixed paint within the stipulated time of its potlife. Hence mix only
required quantity.

Do not apply the coating when the temperature is lower than 10 °C and above
50° c and the humidity is above 85 %.

Complete curing of Epoxy will take 7 days and hence any evaluation will be done
after 7 days of curing.

All the application equipment is to be cleaned immediately after the application

is over.

Use appropriate safety equipment while handling this product. Refers SDS for
more information on safety aspects.

STORAGE:
Store the paint in proper storage conditions as per the local regulations. Keep
the paint container in sealed condition under shed, away from direct sun light
and extreme temperature. Stir well before use. Keep tightly closed the partially
used container.

HEALTH & SAFETY

This is solvent based system and avoids direct with skin, avoid inhalation etc.
Refer SDS for more information on safety & Health.
