Reaction Paper on “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?

The film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon?” is a brilliant masterpiece by
Eddie Romero. It represented the situation in the Philippines in the 19th century. It shows
the Filipino revolution against the Spanish and American colonizers. And how Filipinos
found their own identity during the 19th century. The film expressed Filipinos love for
their own country.

The Philippines was presented in the film “Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo
Ngayon?” as an under in Spanish colony during the 19th century. It shows how the
horrible treatment of the Spaniards caused some Filipinos to live in dread and fear. It
also shows that during the 19th century, it was not immediately clear what the true
identity of Filipinos really was. But with the duration of the film, there’s a main question
that the film seeks to answer. And that is “Who is the Filipino?”, Filipinos are those
people who willingly serve and accept responsibility. They are the ones who fought for
their own country.

In conclusion, the Philippines during the 19th century went through a lot to fought
for their own country. But despite those challenges, Filipinos were able to get the
freedom they wanted. They showed who the Filipinos really are. They showed how they
were strong and wise. After watching the film, I also learned that no matter how many
and how heavy the trials or challenges that come in our lives are, we can solve them as
long as we have affirmation and unity.
