Oedipus The King Essay Topics

Creating an essay on the topic of "Oedipus The King" can be both challenging and intriguing. The
play itself, penned by Sophocles, delves into complex themes such as fate, free will, and the
consequences of one's actions. Crafting an essay on this subject requires a deep understanding of the
play's nuances, the characters' motivations, and the cultural context of ancient Greek tragedy.

To begin with, one must thoroughly analyze Oedipus as a tragic hero and explore the intricacies of
his character. The narrative's layers unravel the profound impact of fate on human lives, prompting an
exploration of whether individuals can truly escape their predetermined destinies. Additionally,
addressing the role of prophecy and oracles adds another layer of complexity to the essay, as it
necessitates an examination of how divine intervention shapes the characters' decisions.

Furthermore, the essay should delve into the dramatic irony employed by Sophocles, where the
audience possesses knowledge that the characters lack. This technique heightens the emotional
tension and underscores the inevitability of Oedipus's tragic fate. Careful consideration of the play's
symbolism, such as the motif of blindness and sight, adds yet another dimension to the analysis,
inviting a deeper exploration of metaphorical meanings.

Incorporating scholarly perspectives and critical interpretations further enriches the essay, showcasing
a comprehensive understanding of the play and its significance. However, balancing one's own
interpretation with established scholarly viewpoints can be a delicate task, requiring a nuanced
approach to maintain academic credibility.

In conclusion, crafting an essay on "Oedipus The King" demands a blend of literary analysis, cultural
insight, and philosophical exploration. It is a task that challenges writers to navigate the complexities
of ancient Greek tragedy while offering an opportunity to delve into profound themes that continue
to resonate in contemporary discourse. For those seeking assistance, similar essays and more can be

Women To Work At Lowell Essay
In Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1822, a new opportunity arose for young single women.
A factory operated there with several cotton mills. Their work environment wasn t in
the best shape as their factory yard was full of mud. The work involved cleaning,
burling, inking, marking, and fine drawing cloth. These women could work long days
at the mills in exchange for pay. This work became very popular and many women
came to work at the mills from morning until night. However, they didn t receive an
extraordinary amount of money for it. Josephine Baker claimed that the most positive
aspect of her work was the fact that her earned money comes quickly, and though the
work is intensive that she is free at the end of her work day, and there is access to
lectures, schools, and libraries. She found it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Surely Lowell was very intensive, but it is a choice. Lowell offers a variety of benefits,
like pay, school, and libraries. Lowell offered a new opportunity to women. It might also
help a woman to be independent. Lowell gave a new role to women in American society.
No longer were women banished to their homes, dependent on family or a husband. This
opened new opportunities in women s lives because they could also partake in the
lectures, schooling, and libraries permitted by the factory. However, they still
participated in a male dominated society with probably not much hope of advancing in
the factory setting. In the end, at least this movement would open doors for many
women in the future. Being able to work in the factory puts their foot in the door for
greater things. In the future women may make a stand for having their rights. Surely
they deserve the right to an appropriate wage that wouldn t lessen every couple of years.
This provided a greater chance for women to have other jobs in the future. Josephine
Baker gives her opinion by submitting her thoughts to The Lowell Offering
The Complete Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
There are certain countries that are ran through dictatorship, they abuse the power they
have to the country. In the story, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane Satrapi,
she changes the view towards Iran through occurrences and eastern fundamentalist ideas.
In 1979, there was the Islamic revolution in Iran. This year was the year that was going
to have many changes to the country. In chapter one of the Veil, there are characters
and their freedom of expression being repressed as well as the movement of repression
where the Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by public figures.

Even the youngest women are resisting to wear the veil, and is a great example of how
western influence is victimizing women that are oppressed and are categorized into a
suppressive group by wearing the veil. Satrapi was stuck in two mind sets which were
the liberal minded world of her parents and her religiosity. Another crucial moment of
the chapter is where she says, I really didn t know what to think about the veil. Deep
down I was very religious but as a family we were very modern and avant garde (6.1).
Satrapi had an important role when this big change happened. She was an individual
who had a strong character as a child. Her family sees being religious while not wearing
a veil compatible, the government believes the opposite. Satrapi foreshadows how at the
end of the story she leaves Iran but never escapes her homeland Iran.
The theme of repression is a never changing issue with Persepolis. The abuse of power
happens because there is a leader trying to run the country in a certain way. Satrapi
illustrates how Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by public figures.
Satrapies mom was on the newspapers, because a German journalist took a photo of
her (5). Her mom would hide most of the time, this was creating some sort of
discomfort for her, and obviously she was scared. She even had to dye her hair so she
wouldn t be recognizable. Satrapies mom, makes this a
United States Should Increase The Visa Cap
The H 1B visa, originally created to streamline admissions of temporary foreign workers
to the United States, has become a topic of much debate between the foes of
immigration and the information technology (IT) industry. The debate is focused on
whether to increase the visa cap in order to alleviate what the industry describes as a
shortage of IT labor. This argument, however, obscures the fundamental flaw of the H 1B
program that deserves a more prudent examination. The current H 1B visaprogram is
plagued with inefficiencies that privilege the IT industry at the expense of both visa
holders and domestic IT workers alike. The H 1B program needs a complete overhaul,
and should include a mechanism to ensure that both employers and employees abide
by free market forces. Increasing the current visa cap will only amplify current
inefficiencies of the H 1B visa program. Alternatively, allowing visa holders the ability
to access a greater range of employment opportunities increases the holder s incentive to
make economic contributions. The industry s ability to hire globally must be balance
by workers rights to seek out more competitive opportunities. Current mobility
restrictions of the H 1B program are preventing valuable workers from seeking the most
valuable opportunities, ultimately leading to a misallocation of foreign labor. H 1B visa
reform that includes a role for labor mobility will not only introduce market forces into
the bigoted program, but will also help ensure
When You Are Old By William Butler Yeats
When You Are Old is a poem that was written by William Butler Yeats in 1891. It is a
poem about a person who wants to be remembered by those he loves. It is a story about
dreams forgotten and memories long gone. Yeats captured a feeling of longing in this
poem that some people may never understand unless they have a relationship that is
more to them than any other relationship they will ever have. When You Are Old talks
about a woman who was loved by a man until he died. It is a story of how a life should
be remembered by a person who loved another. When You Are Old is about the loveof a
man for a woman whom he had on a pedestal. He felt this woman was loved by many
with a true and deep love and loved by others with a false love. He felt this woman was
loved much like people today love celebrities. Yeats wrote about this woman as though
he knew her intimately. He asks her to slowly read, and dream of the soft look, Your
eyes had once and of their shadows deep (Yeats). He wants her to remember how
things were in her youth. He wants her to remember her dreams and think of how
things were and how they may have been. Yeats is asking her to take her time and day
dream about her glory days. In the first lines of the poem Yeats describes this woman as
old and grey and full of sleep (Yeats). The speaker of the poem addresses his beloved
saying that when she is aged she should read a particular book which will remind her of
her youth. She will remember the
Comparing Herbalife And Burnlounge
Pyramid schemes have been a problem for the federal government since 1967 and
continue today (Walsh, 2016). The right to recruit others and the right to sell products are
two of the most common and important characteristics related to illegal pyramid schemes
(Walsch, 2016). In a comparison of Herbalife and BurnLounge, both direct marketing
companies accused of pyramid schemes, there are several key differences between the
two companies. These differences can be seen in both of the areas of the right to recruit
and the right to sell. While Herbalife promoted recruitment of participants, that was not
the primary source of income. Also, they had appropriate sales quotas to support the
incentives associated with the participants. There are several... Show more content on

The primary payout comes from recruiting others into the program, and not necessarily
from the sales of the products. This shell game places the burden on the participant to
constantly be recruiting new participants instead of actually selling the products. The test
for demonstration of pyramid schemes has two different primary factors that are
evaluated. Is the company primarily making money off of recruits that purchase sales
packages and must those participants recruit other participants to be able to make any
money? BurnLounge was proven to be primarily based on recruiting new members and
getting them to purchase sales packages instead of the sales of the products. Failure to
disclose that most investors actually lose money was part of the downfall of the
BurnLounge system as well. The investigation into illegal activity centered on the
evaluation of sales activity and recruits. Unfortunately, it took 7 years to shut down
BurnLounge, which delayed the protection of an estimated 30,000 salespeople that were
roped into the scam. Multilevel marketing should not vow large earnings from recruiting,
charge large start up fees, or compensate primarily from recruiting fees (Walsh,
