1. The sewer brought 3 types of fabric. The cotton fabric is 17.2


meters long. The silk fabric is 7.8 meters long and the wool
fabric is 2.3 meters longer than the silk fabric. How long does
the fabrics the sewer bought?

2. One customer came and wanted to adjust her long skirt up to


her knee. Her skirt was 76.8 cm long. The sewer measured her
waist up to her knee which was 56.5 cm long. How long does
the sewer need to adjust in the skirt?

3. The sewer had 48.2 meters of white sewing thread and 12.3
meters of yarn. She used 9.2 meters of thread for the pants and
another 5.3 meters of thread for dress. How long of sewing
thread left?

4. The sewer was selling her handmade flowering dress for $8.3
and a sling bag for $9.8. Her friend wants to buy that dress and
requests for a discount. Sewer gave her a discount of $1.7. How
much does her friend need to pay for the dress?

5. The sewer needs 24 inches of garter. The white garter is 25.2


inches long. The black garter is 22.7 inches long. Which among
the 2 garters would she choose?

6. The old sewing machine is 8 inches long and 17.3 inches wide
while the brand-new sewing machine is 13.7 inches wide. How
wide is the old sewing machine than new sewing machine?

Answers

1. Fabric wool: 7.8 + 2.3 = 10.1


17.2 + 7.8 + 10.1 = 35.1
The sewer bought 35.1 meters of fabric.

2. 76.8 – 56.5 = 20.3


The sewer needs to adjust by 20.3 centimeters long in the skirt.

3. 48.2 – 9.2 – 5.3 = 33.7


There are 33.7 meters of sewing thread left.

4. 8.3 – 1.7 = 6.6
