REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

It is the year 2045, the planet has surpassed the irreversible period of controlling climate change damage. Due
to a population reaching 9 billion, there is an estimated destruction of 70% of the natural world in 30 years,
mass extinction of species, with roughly 1200 species going extinct every week and the collapse of human
society is inevitable. 70% of all countries are living in mass water scarcity.

Living on the moon has been a part of science fiction for years but is not something most people envision in
their lifetime. Establishing a settlement on the moon would force us to confront radically unique design
challenges compared to what we typically face on Earth. A colony on the moon would offer access to resources
and energy production that we cannot harness on Earth and could be a stepping-stone for further exploration
of our galaxy and beyond.

It is also expected that there will be interest in this location from the space tourism industry. The existing lunar
depots get inquiries from people who want to visit and observe the Moon from orbit, for a week. There are also
long-term plans to develop tourism opportunities on the lunar surface, which will cause more traffic through
lunar orbit infrastructure.

The Amity Space Society requests contractors to propose the design, development, construction, and
operations planning of the first large space settlement to orbit Earth’s moon Luna.

REQUIREMENT:

A realistic but futuristic proposal for the first settlement on LUNAR ORBIT is required for 50,000 people + 2500
research scientists and on-site engineers combined + 2,000 high profile citizens. The goal of the settlement is to
sustain a civilization on the Moon with the flexibility to expand it every 35 years by a population of 25,000.

The settlement needs to continuously develop new methods of recycling and reducing strain on the natural
resources available and produce and use artificial counterparts to avoid an Earth like catastrophe in the future.
Minimum natural resources should be drained from Earth after the initial phase of the settlement and should
instead be obtained through Moon and other planetary bodies. The settlement should act as a catalyst in space
business. The settlement would need to be profitable by atleast 15% of the cost of construction by the year
2080.

Proposal content must be arranged in seven sections and two Appendices, numbered as follows:

1. Executive Summary [brief description of overall design features and merits]

2. Structural Design: External Configuration, Internal Arrangement& Construction Process
3. Operations and Infrastructure: Location and Materials Sources, Community Infrastructure
4. Human Factors and Safety: Community Design, Residential Design
5. Automation Design and Services: Automation of Construction Processes, Facility Automation
6. Schedule and Cost: Design and Construction Schedule, Costs
7. Business Development

NOTE: Seniors (Grade 9-12) need to consider and explain the design and mode of transport from Earth to
the moon (Interplanetary travel) as part of their proposal. Junior (Grade 6-8) need not consider
interplanetary travel as part of their proposal.
