THE CALENDAR

USING CARDINAL AND ORDINAL NUMBERS:

We use cardinal numbers (two, three, four) when the word after the number is plural (ends with s). For
example:

- There are seven days in a week.

- There are twelve months in a year.

We use ordinal numbers (first, second, third) after months and after the word “the”. For example:

- I came to the U.S. on April 1st.

- I pay for the telephone on the third Saturday of very month.
