dance to be followed the math song that
will be led by Princess and Robert
James)

c. Greetings: - Good morning everyone.

Good morning class!

B. Checking of Attendance
As I call your name, say present if you are present. - (Students respond by saying present)

Very good, all are present.

2. Listen attentively and participate to the discussion.

3. Follow directions
4. Raise your right hand if you want to ask a question or a
clarification.
- Yes teacher
Class, do I speak clearly?”
Ok! Very good that’s what good students do. Can I expect this - Yes teacher
from you class?

D. Drill
(Presenting this using flashcards)

Before we proceed to the next activity, let’s have a drill on

solving number sentences involving multiplication and
division.
- Yes, we are!
Are you ready?
- The answer is 8 ma’am
1. 2 × 8 ÷2 = - The answer is 10 ma’am
2. 5 × 4 ÷ 2 = - The answer is 8 ma’am
3. 4 × 4 =
2 - The answer is 15 ma’am
4. 6 × 5 =

5. 3× 8 = - The answer is 12 ma’am
2
Excellent class! Give a 3 big clap to yourself. - (student’s clap their selves into 3 claps)

E. Review
Do you still remember our previous lesson? - Yes teacher

- Clairecent: Our previous lesson last

time was about solving routine and
non-routine problem involving
perimeter.
Very good! So to analyze and solve the given problem, what
are the 4-step plan that we are going to apply? Princess Jane: The 4-step plan that we are
going to apply are:
- Understand the Problem
- Plan
- Solve to carry out the plan
- Check and look back

Very good! I prepare some example of routine and non-routine

problem, just raised your hand if you want to volunteer to
answer this at the blackboard.

9 (Expected answer)
1.
P=s+s+s+s
3 5 =3+9+5+8

P = 25 m

9 (Expected answer)
2.
P = 2 × (l + w)

3 = 2 × (9 m + 3 m)
= 2 ×12 m

P = 24 m

F. Motivation
As we proceed to our lesson proper, let’s play a mystery box.
Do you know how to play this game? - Yes, we do!

(There were real objects inside the mystery box. This will be
put at the table in front)

Direction: (There will be 4 groups in the class) In each group

will choose one representative to pull out of the box to get
objects inside the mystery box. (After taking the object at the
mystery box, they will describe the object).
- Yes we are!
Are you ready?
(Learners can say something about an object or
describe an object that they got in the box)
(Expected answer)

- Ma’am it is hanger, this objects form a

triangular shape.
- This object is flat iron, it has form three
sides and three angles.

- It is a speaker, I figure out that if I put

the speaker horizontally it form
quadrilateral but when we put the
speaker vertically it form a triangular
shape.
- This object is a ruler triangle, this
object is an equilateral Triangle which
is a triangle having all sides are equal.

Great job every one!

(After the mystery box game, show real object of the flag)
Now class, I have here real one object, one of our national
symbols is our flag.
- Yes teacher, we seen triangle shapes
Do you seen any familiar shapes in the flag?

Very good!

Who would like to volunteer to go ahead and choose just one

statement that best describes of these symbols? - (Students can choose from the
statements that are placed on the board
and then position them where they
believe that symbol represents what the
words imply).
So these was the symbol mean/ represents in our flag that
you’ve seen.

(This can lead to the infusion of the value of respect for the
flag)
Thank you for your participation, now we shall explore more
about one of the shapes in our flag which is triangle.

G. Discussion (Expected answer)

Do you have any idea what is our main lesson for today? - I think our lesson for today is about
triangle.
(show the presentation on the screen)

FINDING THE AREA OF A TRIANGLE

Let us study the situational problem.

Samuel, can you read? - (Samuel read the problem)

- Adrian has a botanical garden. The garden is triangular in

shape. The length of the base is 6 m and the height is 4 meter.
She would like to cover the whole area of the garden with

carabao grass. How many square meters of carabao grass are

needed?

What is the shape of the botanical garden? - The shape of the botanical garden is
triangle.
Very good! We call it triangular shape.
What is asked in the problem? - How many square meters of carabao
grass are needed?

Excellent!

So, how can we find the area of the triangular botanical garden?
Take a look at this figure.
From the illustration below will help us to find the area of the
garden. The botanical garden has the shape of a triangle. The
length of its base is 6 m and its height is 4 m.
If we draw another triangle that is exactly the same as the given
triangle and arrange this 2 triangles as shown in the figure, a
parallelogram is formed.

From the illustration, as you can see the base of the

parallelogram is 6 m and its height is 4 m. Thus, by using the
formula of parallelogram;
A=b×h

Adrian, can you give the given number of base and height
- The given number of base is 6 meter
given.
and the height is 4 meter.

Excellent Adrian!

=6×4
A = 24 sq. m or 24 m2

Since the triangle is 1/2 of the parallelogram, we are going to

use the formula of triangle;

Formula in finding the area of triangle is A = 1/2 (b × h) or

a=b×h
2
Where b = the base of the triangle
h = the height of the triangle
a=b×h
2

a=6×4
2

a = 24
2

a = 12 m2

Thus, the area of the parallelogram is 24.

Let us solve for the area of the following triangle using the
formula.

Who may volunteer to try answer number 1 and 2.

H. Generalization (Expected answer)

 What do you learn for today’s discussion? - For today’s discussion I learned how
find the area of triangle.
Awesome! Our topic/lesson for today is to find the area of
triangle.

- To find the area of triangle, we are going

 How do we able to find the area of a triangle?
to multiply the given number of base to the
given number of height then divided it into
two.
Magnificent! So to find the area of a triangle we use the given
number of base and height can be solve by the formula; Area
of triangle = ½ (b × h) or A = b × h
