Activity 1: Setting Personal Learning Goals

Honestly, I’m not really into setting goals and expectations – come what may.

Maybe that is why I only finished my education at the age of 35. However, people to

matures and learn from their mistakes. Personal learning goals provides a clear sense of

purpose and direction that will help me identify what I want to achieve and keep me on

track. Although I am still not in the field of teaching yet, as a licensed Social Studies

professional teacher, I believed that this course will be a good platform for me to develop

not only professionally, as well as personally.

At the end of this course, I am hoping that it will help me deepen my

understanding about different cultures of different society of the Philippines. Might as

well, it may help me broaden my cultural awareness of the cultures of the world. I do

believe that I already have cultural awareness – thanks to my mentors back in my college

days, but I still need to strengthen my knowledge on cultures.

In addition, I also want to enhance my critical thinking skills by participating in a

lively and fruitful discussions. Taking parts in lectures and learning from others’

experiences and learning, I am certain that it will improve my critical thinking through

analyzing and evaluating their experiences. I will also prepare me to when I am already in

the field of teaching.

Moreover, I am expecting that this course will enhance my teaching skills and

pedagogical methods to effectively convey the significance of Philippine culture and

society to students and learners of all background. I am also looking forward to learn and

adopt interdisciplinary approach from my teacher, integrating elements of different

disciplines to offer a holistic understanding of the Philippine culture.

Lastly, as a teacher who believes in lifelong learning, I am committed to

continuous exploration of the ever-evolving dynamics of Philippine culture and society.

I am anticipating and looking ahead for a fruitful and beneficial course with the

help of the teacher and my classmates.
