The volunteer students of the College of Teacher Education (CTE) of Laguna
State Polytechnic University – San Pablo City Campus gathered on the orientation for ORYENTASYON PROGRAMA PROJECT VTS (Volunteer student Teacher Support) 5.2 held at Del Remedio National High School (DRNHS), February 17, 2023. The said orientation was attended by students, parents, and also the heads and coordinators of the project. The focus of this project is to teach students who have a knowledge gap about literacy, numeracy, and reading in the secondary level. The program started by singing our National Anthem, to be led by Princess Ghierly Caringal, the SSG Grade 7 Representative. After that, Ella Michelle B. Dumaraos took charge of the opening prayer before officially starting the program. The opening remarks were delivered by the Del Remedio National High School principal, Mr. Patrick Henry L. Ilagan. He welcomed everyone to their school and also introduce the overview of the program. Some notable officials gave some messages to the parents, teachers, and volunteer students. Kgg. Ronaldo D. Reyes, the Brgy. Chairman of Del Remedio praised the project and the volunteers who will teach students with knowledge gaps. The Youth Formation Coordinator of the Division of San Pablo, Ms. Eloisa J. Pramis, was also grateful for the efforts given by the volunteer students of LSPU, teachers, heads, and coordinators, who became busy formulating this project. Mr. Rainne G. Ramos, the PSDS-cluster II, gave some pieces of wisdom to the listeners. Due to the busy schedule of the CTE Dean, Dr. Edilberto Z. Andal, Dr. Cecilia Velasco, gave a message on her behalf of him. She introduced the volunteer students from LSPU and the subject that they will be teaching to the students. She clarified that the volunteer students of this project don’t have any salary; they pledge themselves to teach because they want to help the Filipino youth. Keith Abiel Cervantes, the SSG President of DRNHS, presented the details of PROJECT VTS 5.2. He told what are the needs of the students, the subjects that need to put much attention to, and also the beneficiaries of the program. After he gave the program details, the last year’s Volunteer students also gave their message for this batch of volunteer students via Video Presentation. Those volunteer students from last year shared their gratitude as they learned a lot after teaching the students of said school. Cyrell N. Ate, the CTE-Extension Implementing Unit Head, introduced the Volunteer student teachers to the students, parents, and people who attend the orientation. She called out all the volunteer students who came from the Filipino, English, and Mathematics departments. She also included the volunteer student teachers of SIKLAV. She was grateful for the initiative of the volunteer student to teach the youth for free. After her, Eric P. Valladolid. the project Leader-Project VTS 5.2 started to have an open forum to accommodate several questions. The teachers from LSPU asked for the schedule for tutoring because the volunteers have also classes and they want to know the schedule so that there are no classes affected. Valladolid answered the question by telling the teachers that they are free to choose a specific day to teach, where the students and the volunteer student teachers are also free. After the open forum, the project implementors together with the LSPU-CTE admins signed the wall of commitment together with the volunteer student teachers, student participants, and parents symbolizing that they are committed to the project VTS. As the program ended, Myrna T. Capuno, the president of GPTA is thankful that this project exists because it really helps the students of DRNHS. The visitors and the officials took their photo opportunity after the program.
