NORMAL CHECK LISTS

Pilot's and Engineers' Pre flight checks are produced in amplified form only and
should be performed by a standardised "scan" of the cockpit panels and equijsnent.
This enables flight crew to use the actual equipment, instruments, selectors and
switches as a physical check list, thus ensuring all necessary actions have been
taken. The pre flight safety checks which are not in a logic scan pattern are
produced as a unilateral (silent) check list, and this check must be carried out
using the check-list as a reference.

The Co-pilot will read "Before Starting Check List" all other check lists will be
read by the Engineer Officer. These check lists are normal challenge and response
type.

The Check Lists use abbreviations to indicate the crew member who is required to
carry out the appropriate sections.

C Pilot in charge. A Flight Attendants

P Co-Pilot G Ground (Ramp)
E Engineer Officer ALL C.P.E.

TRANSIT CHECKS

At Transit stations the full Pilots and Engineer Officers pre-flight "scan" check
must be carried out. At transit stops or short turn-arounds a full scan preflight
check must always be carried out but there is obviously no need to test those pieces
of equipment known to be serviceable on arrival. ^CD
