At the end of the lesson the pupils are expected to:


1. Define food preservation.
2. Understand different ways of preserving food.
B. Motivation “Show a picture of a preserved food in a jar.

Ask the pupils the following questions:
1. What do you see inside the jar?
2. Is it a fruit or a vegetable?
3. What will happen to a food when placed in a jar with lots of water and salt?

Food Preservation – the process of preparing food for future consumption by
preserving its spoilage.

Food Preservation methods – the process of treating and handling food to stop
or slow down spoilage.

Spoilage – deterioration of food or perishable goods.


D. Presentation

Each group will be given pictures of different food. They are going to paste it in
the manila paper, they must identify the process and methods used to preserve.

The presenter will then present it to the class.


d. Performance Group Performance Task:

Preserve Food Using varied Methods

Each group will be given different food


They are going to place it inside the jar.
Group one will perform with brine solution.
Group two will perform using sugar and water.
A group member will present their final output.

After the performance task, ask the following questions to the pupils:

1. How did you start with the task?


2. What difficulties did you encounter during the conduct of the task?
3. Why food preservation is important?
