Analysis of Ronald Reagan s Sppech, The Challenger Disaster
While seated in the Oval Office of the White house, January 28, 1986 President Ronald
Reagan delivers his speech The Challenger Disaster; hours after the space shuttle The
Challenger explodes while in take off. Thousands witnessed this horrifying event live
in person and on television. This mission was very unique allowing the first civilian to
ever be allowed in space during a mission. She was aboard The Challenger as an observer
in the NASA Teacher in Space Program. Ironically, nineteen years before this disaster,
three astronauts were tragically lost in an accident on the ground. President Reagan
remembers those astronauts that were lost not only the day of the disaster, but also those

Microsoft vs. Foss
Microsoft s Foss Patent Infringement
Holly Stark
ITT Technical IT 302
Abstract This paper takes an in depth look at the claims from Microsoft that FOSS (Free
and Open Source Software) committed patent infringement in 2006. It also discusses
how the events have impacted FOSS, whether negatively or positively and how the
actions have changed both since 2006.
Microsoft s Foss Patent Infringement
Free software is wonderful and corporate America seems to love it. It s often high
quality stuff that can be downloaded free off the Internet and then copied at will. It s
versatile it can be customized to perform almost any large scale computing task and best
of all its crash resistant. More than half the companies in the ... Show more content on

In addition, the software makers struck a deal on patents designed to give customers
peace of mind about using Novell s open source products. This partnership made
Novell the only company in the industry that was able to provide the customer not
only with the code to run Linux, but also with a patent covenant from Microsoft.
(Evers, Joris 2006) Some thought that it showed that Microsoft was kind of being
forced to see Linux as a significant competitor and the FOSS model as a viable
business model. (Upfold, Peter 2006) My personal opinion is that this was an attack
on the open source community. Microsoft hasn t actually changed its tune; it s still
actively attacking free software and trying to abolish GNU/Linux while promoting
Windows and other proprietary software as though they are complementary to free
software, which they are not. It s PR nonsense and Microsoft is good at PR. Since
then, Novell was sold in 2010 to Attachmate Corp. and a concurrent sale of certain
intellectual property assets was sold to CPTN Holdings LLC, a consortium of
technology companies organized by Microsoft Corporation. It plays right into the
hands of Microsoft s PR campaign, which strives for a fusion where Microsoft controls
both sides of the competition and then derails the side which is less favorable to
Microsoft. Microsoft has done that over and over again for many years and victims
include giants like IBM and Apple.
The Gary Johnson Campaign
Gary Johnson s goal to make it to the debates stage this fall with Democratic
presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and Republican nominee Donald Trump took a big
leap forward on Monday, as his campaign blew past its one day fundraising goal of $1.5
million and hauled in $1.7 million.
Johnson, the Libertarian presidential nominee and former Republican governor of New
Mexico, intends to use the money bomb as his campaign organizers call it to finance
television ads in several key states, according to U.S. News World Report. Most of the
cash came from small donors, demonstrating Johnson s grassroots strength. However, the
Johnson campaign does not have the financial backing Ron Paul did back in December
2007, when the former Texas congressman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Silver, a statistical guru, points out that the five polls selected by the CPD are run by
highly respected polling firms and most importantly tend to show Libertarian Gary
Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein doing a tad better than in other polls. He
notes that Johnson polls at an average of nearly 10 percent in the fab five of polling
chosen by the debates panel, while the Libertarian polls at around 8 percent in non
commission polls.
Johnson, who describes himself as a social liberal and fiscal conservative, has until
mid September to get his poll numbers to 15 percent and qualify for the debates. UPI
notes third party candidates have only made it to the presidential debates podium twice
since they began in 1960. John Anderson qualified in 1980, and Ross Perot made the
leap in 1992. The first presidential debate will be held on Sept. 26 at Hofstra University
in New York.

in September? Are this year s third party candidates, Johnson and Jill Stein, more

The Last Boss Of New York
The Last Boss of New York It was beautiful day with a slight breeze that cooled you
each time it passed. My father, Tony Di Marco and I, were taking a stroll around the
gardens of our family s compound in Staten Island, in New York City. My father
wearing his usual black tuxedo dinner jacket with the buttons open and Boutonnière
with a red rose, underneath was his black waistcoat with the button closed, underneath
that was his white Shirt and topped off with a black bow tie. His hair was combed back
as far as possible it was short and coloured black with sort off grey streaks which showed
his age. He was built like a house, with his broad shoulders, his body was big and
powerful looking but no wonder because after all he did like the rich food and always
had a glass of wine to wash it down. Facially the feature most remembered after first
glance was his cheeks, they sagged down to about his jaw line, this made his accent
powerful as every time he spoke it sounded like he was questioning what you had said.
He had a moustache and it was the length of his top lip, it was as if it was somebody s
eyebrow it was that thin. He walked with grace and power as if he was untouchable.
We walked to the gates and decide to take the stroll further. He told the security guard
who was manning the gates to Open the gates he then slipped the guard a $20 dollars. I
loved the way he did this as it was a sign of power and respect. We walked for a while
talking about what would happen
