COURSE OUTLINE IN COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALs AND PROGRAMMING

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course aims to introduce to students the basic components of computers
(hardware and software), network technology concepts and fundamentals of
algorithm development. The course gives emphasis to programming
development and applications; and computer solutions of engineering
problems.
CREDITS UNITS 2 Unit (6 hrs laboratory)

COURSE OBJECTIVE: At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

a. Acquire enough knowledge about information technology and concepts of


programming languages
b. Understand the hardware components and its functions.
c. Demonstrate proficiency in using different applications software and high-
level programming languages by demonstrating competency in the
development of algorithm and programs.
d. Apply knowledge and demonstrate skills in using different software as an
applied knowledge and demonstrate skills in using different software as a
tool for problem solving and engineering practice.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Midterm/Final Exam
2. Project (shortcut keys in Windows, MS Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint
(Pls refer to Figure 1.B for the format)

Reporting: Please choose one topic per group with 3 members. Prepare a
powerpoint presentation..

3. Oral Presentation of System Design or program created in Visual Basic


(Group presentation -topics and design is up to the group/ 2 Members
each group)
a. Each group must present their output
b. Softcopy must be presented first before the schedule presentation
c. Active participation of each member of the group is required.
d. A maximum of 20 mins must be given per group.
4. Compilation of Laboratory output (printed and softcopy)
a. Cover page (Template will be provided)
b. Self-Introduction
(In MS word application/Canva) Deadline (Feb 19, 2024)
c. Project (shortcut keys) (deadline (Feb 19, 2024)
d. Activity 2 AI Tools

GRADING SYSTEM: Laboratory 40%


Examination 30%
Performance/Quiz/Ass 20%
Attendance 10%

Total 100%

Course Policies  Regular attendance is required. Attendance is counted from the first
day of regular classes until the end of the semester as reflected in the
approved academic calendar year.
 Compliance to all the requirements reflected in the syllabus
 Late submission of output will be given deductions depending on the
number of days late.
 Cheating is highly discouraged.
