Reflective Essay Outline

Writing a reflective essay outline might initially seem like a straightforward task, but the process can
be deceptively challenging. Crafting a thoughtful outline requires introspection, the ability to
articulate personal experiences coherently, and a keen understanding of the reflective essay genre. It's
not merely about recounting events; rather, it involves a deep analysis of how those events shaped
your thoughts and perspectives.

To begin with, one must delve into the realm of self-reflection, a process that demands time and
emotional investment. The difficulty lies in navigating the myriad of thoughts and emotions that may
arise during this introspective journey. Selecting the most relevant and impactful experiences to
include in the essay can be a daunting task, as there is often a temptation to include every detail.
Striking a balance between depth and conciseness is crucial.

Another challenge is translating personal reflections into a structured outline that adheres to the
conventions of essay writing. It requires a thoughtful organization of ideas, ensuring a logical flow
that captivates the reader's attention while maintaining a reflective tone. Crafting a compelling
introduction that sets the stage for introspection and a conclusion that leaves a lasting impression
adds another layer of complexity.

Moreover, the reflective essay genre demands a level of vulnerability, as the writer is often required
to expose personal thoughts and emotions. This openness can be intimidating, and finding the right
balance between authenticity and professionalism poses a challenge.

In conclusion, creating a reflective essay outline involves more than just sketching a roadmap for the
essay. It necessitates a profound journey into one's own experiences, a skillful organization of
thoughts, and a willingness to be vulnerable in expressing personal insights. Despite the difficulties,
the process ultimately allows for personal growth and a deeper understanding of oneself.

Method
Design
The experiment will utilize a 2x2 factorial design with 2 (presentation style: blocked or
interleaved) x 2 (informational content: high or low). Presentation style will be
manipulated between subjects and informational content will be manipulated within
subjects.
Participants
Participants will include forty undergraduate students, ranging in age from eighteen to
twenty three years. These subjects will be drawn from the Villanova University subject
pool, and will receive course credit in exchange for participating in a single thirty
minute research session. They will be randomly enrolled as subject numbers in the
experiment; gender will be a factor of random selection. All subjects will receive a
debriefing form at the conclusion of their session. This study conforms to research ethics
and abides by IRB regulations.
Stimuli and apparatus The materials for this study are computer programmed drawings of
beetles. They have been programmed via the language E Prime. The drawings of the
beetles are randomly generated based on twelve identifiable/critical dimensions. *The
numbers 1 7 represent thickness of the line of the antennae and sets of legs. The specific
function for line width/thickness on ePrime is cnvs.PenWidth which will create a line
ranging from 1 7, 1 being the thinnest of lines and 7 being the thickest of lines.
