GUIDELINES:

Interdisciplinary Project: Class X


I. The IDP is based on the following chapters-The making of the Global World
(History), The Life Lines of National Economy (Geography), and Globalisation
(Economics).

II. The IDP is part of internal assessment and marks of the activity will be recorded
under the head ’Multiple Assessment’

III. The students will record their findings in form of PPT (10-12 slides).Please show
them the videos and discuss the reading material (links provided below) before the
students began recording their work.

III. The IDP is a group activity. Create groups in your classrooms and appoint a
group leader for collaboration. A group of 9 students will be ideal. Each student will
cover one sub topic (as mentioned below)

1. Tracing the global connect of India before and after Indian independence &
the impact of I & II World Wars in making of global world.

2. Exploring how the disease that spread had a serious impact on the human
society of the world & tracing the plight of the people who migrate across
countries in search of jobs

3. The Great Depression –causes and its impacts on world economy, role of
mass production and consumption in the Great Depression & role of MNCs
and liberalisation in the development of International trade and its impact on
world economy. Students to watch a video from the link,

4. India’s economic condition during the Great Depression and relate it to the
present economic condition of India and US.

5. Rebuilding the World Economy and Interlinking Production across


countries, the role of the Bretton Woods Institutions in rebuilding the world
economy. Make the students read the material given in

6. The Early Post-War Years: The role of roadways, railways, waterways and
airways in building the national economy (make use of information given
under the head ‘Hand out 1’)
7. Decolonization and Independence - The Role of World Trade Organization:
The role of the WTO in promoting fair trade
practices. (To cover this sub topic instruct
and guide students on the basis of
information under the head ‘Hand out 2’)

8.End of Bretton Woods and the Beginning of Globalization:

The students will read material given in the link
