Summary Of The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a television series which follows the story of a disease causing
infection that caused the Earth to be dominated by a zombie apocalypse. A group of
survivors gets forced to fight for their lives against man/eating zombies. The main
character in the show is Rick Grimes, a Sheriff Deputy who had been shot prior to the
apocalypse event. Rick was later taken to a local hospital before the zombie epidemic.
Rick awakens from a coma in which he finds himself in a hospital alone. He noticed that
he is in a world that is different than anything he has ever seen before. Throughout the
series Rick shows authority, and strength which shows his machismo over the group. The
series exemplifies how masculinity, femininity, and values are represented in the
relationships of the surviving characters and how these individualities are especially
inflated throughout the show. In the first few episodes of the Walking Dead series you see
the relationships between a few survivors, and how they ethically help each other
overcome the adversities in the zombie prophetic world. As Rick and his group travel
through a series of terrains they are forced to make serious decisions in which impact
everyone in the group, especially, those whom Rick feel an obligation to lead
(masculinity role). As a group they have a strong positive moral direction, even though

Alcohol Consumption Among Youth Is Not A New Issue Essay
1. Introduction
Alcohol consumption amongst youth is not a new issue New Zealand has a long
standing history of alcohol consumption both good and bad. In New Zealand, as is
also around the world, the consumption of alcohol has baggage both good and bad. It
is seen on a positive note as a social enabler, it allows oneself to let their guard down a
bit and feel at ease in situations out of their normal comfort zones, however to every
story there is also a flip side, and this is the idea that alcohol consumption is the cause of
social harm.
These views are also reflected in the thoughts of many New Zealander s today. An online
article, Contrary to belief, we may be losing binge from our drinking culture (2012)
highlights the disparities of views between those who are 50 years or older, and those I
deem part of the youth of New Zealand who are 30 years or younger. The views show
that the older group believe that New Zealanders, especially the younger demographic
have a problem with alcohol consumption, however, those in the younger group
acknowledged that as a society New Zealanders drink excessively, many argued that we
(New Zealand) was no different to any other country in regards to alcohol consumption.
This perceived social norm of excessive drinking highlights the need to further explore
how as a society we can change the social norm so excessive drinking is not an issue
without stigmatizing a particular segment of society.

Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide

ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic
My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available
building blocks namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to capture
carbon dioxide, an undesirable greenhouse gas which contributes to global warming,
from industrial processes. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially and while they
are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable, and degrade quickly.
The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could solve many of these
issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work being
done in the field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture from Large
Anthropogenic Point Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of materials
currently being used to capture carbon dioxide what I am attempting to do with
polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of Supported Amine Based
CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses regeneration of the
amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third by Maschmeyer
entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the Hydrogenation of
Nitriles: Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the reaction I am doing
(reductive amination of a polyketone). Furthermore, a review article will be particularly
good for my purposes because it will attempt to
