Lesson Plan in English 9

Learning Competency: Illustrate connection between two texts through a diagram.


Use the literature as a way of understanding one’s life experiences
as well as other people’s lives and circumstances.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, 80%of the students are able to:
1. Explain what are the social issues present on the texts.
2. Compare and contrast the texts using Venn diagram.
3. Appreciate the texts through writing an essay relating their life experiences.
Topic: “Letters from Teddy” and “Thank you, ma’am”
References:
Materials:

Laptop, cartolina, marker, and snacks (for the prizes)


Procedure
1. Prayer
 The teacher will call the next prayer leader.
2. Checking of Attendance
 The teacher will ask the students which students are absent.
3. Collecting or Checking of Assignments
A1 Activity
1. Review
 The teacher will ask the students about the previous lesson and what have they
have learned.
2. Motivation
BRING ME!
 To get the students ready for the class, the teacher will have the game “Bring me”.
 Using the crane machine game online, the crane will pick which item the students
will need to bring to the teacher.
 Whoever gets to bring the item first will win.
3. Activity Proper
4 PICS, 1 WORD (10 points)
 The class will be divided in 6 (six) groups.
 Each group will be given a cartolina containing pictures and scrambled words.
 Each group will have 2 minutes to figure what is the scrambled words using the
pictures as the hint.
 A prize will be given to those groups who will get the correct answer.
A2 Analysis
Once all the answers have been checked, the students’ works will be posted on the board
and then the teacher will ask the following questions; (10 points)
 What do you notice on the pictures?
 Are they related to each other? How?
 Can you relate to the images presented?

A3 Abstraction
The teacher will present the texts which are “Letters from Teddy” and “Thank you,
ma’am”. Each group will be given copies of the stories. (20 points)
COMPARE AND CONTRAST
 Using Venn diagram, the students will compare and contrast the texts given.
 The students will be given 10 minutes to read the stories.
 And 10 minutes to answer the Venn diagram.
 Once finished, each group will present their work and have 1 representative to discuss
their work in front. Each group will be given 2 minutes to present.

A4 Application
In order for the teacher to know if the students have fully understood the texts, the
teacher will ask the following questions: (10 points)

 Who are the characters of the stories?


 What do you think is the theme of the stories?
 Which part of the stories are your favorite?
 What do you think are the social issues presented on the texts?

Evaluation
ESSAY: 2-3 sentences only in a ½ crosswise. (30 points)

Write or state how your teachers impacted your life as a students and a child. What are
the things you are thankful for because of them?
