Diwali Puja Vidhi

Ganesha Puja Vidhi


We are giving detailed Ganesha Puja Vidhi during Diwali. For Diwali Puja people should buy the new Pratima (प्रतिमा) of Lord Ganesha.
This Puja Vidhi is given for new Pratima or Murti (मूतिि॔) of Shri Ganesha. The given Puja Vidhi includes all sixteen steps of worship which
is known as Shodashopachara Puja (षोडशोपचार पूजा).

1. Dhyana (ध्यान)
Puja should begin with the meditation of Lord Ganesha. Dhyana should be done in front of already installed Shri Ganesha statue in front
of you. Following Mantra should be chanted while meditating on Lord Ganesha.

Shri Ganesha Puja during Diwali

Udyad-Dineshwara-Ruchim Nija-Hasta-Pad Maih,


Pashankushabhaya-Varan Dadhatam Gajasyam।
Raktambaram Sakala-Dukha-Haram Ganesham,
Dhyaye Prasannamakhilabharanabhiramam॥
Shri Ganesha Dhyana Mantra
मन्त्र अर्थ - मैं सभी दुः खोों को हरनेवाले गज-मख उन भगवान् गणेश का ध्यान करिा हूँ, जो रक्त-वस्त्र पहने हैं, तजनके शरीर का वणण उदय-कालीन सूयण के समान िेज-वन्त है, जो अपने
कर-कमलोों में पाश, अोंकश, अभय और वर धारण तकये हैं और सन्दर-मनोहर तवतवध प्रकार के अलङ्कारोों से ससज्जिि होकर प्रसन्न हैं।

2. Avahana (आवाहन)
After Dhyana of Shri Ganesha, one should chant following Mantra in front of the Murti, by showing Avahan Mudra (Avahan Mudra is
formed by joining both palms and folding both thumbs inwards).
Agachchha Deva-Devesha! Tejorashe Gana-Pate!
Kriyamanam Maya Pujam Grihana Sura-Sattama!
॥Shrimad-Ganapati-Devam Avahayami॥
Shri Ganesha Avahana Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods! O splendid Shri Ganesha! Worshipped by Gods! Please come and accept the Puja offered by me.
Thus, I invoke Lord Shri Ganesha.

3. Pushpanjali (पुष्पाञ्जलि)
After Shri Ganesha has been invoked, take five flowers in Anjali (by joining palm of both hands) and leave them in front of the Murti to
offer seat to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Nana-Ratna-Samayuktam, Karta-Swara-Vibhushitam।
Asanam Deva-Devesha! Prityartham Prati-Grihyatam॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Asanarthe Pancha-Pushpani Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Pushpanjali Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods! Please take the seat which is decorated with gold and various types of jewels for my pleasure.
Thus, I offer five flowers for the seat of Lord Shri Ganesha.

4. Swagat (स्वागत)
After offering flowers-made seat to Shri Ganesha, chant following Mantra with folded hands to welcome Shri Ganesha.

Shri Ganesha-Deva! Swagatam।

Mantra Translation - O Ganesha Deva! I welcome you.

5. Padya (पाद्य)
After welcoming Shri Ganesha offer Him water to wash the feet while chanting following Mantra.

Padyam Grihana Devesha, Sarva-Kshema-Samartha, Bhoh!


Bhaktya Samarpitam Deva, Gana-Pate! Namoastu Te॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Padyam Namah॥
Shri Ganesha Padya Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods, who is capable of doing all sorts of welfare! I offer the water to wash the feet with full devotion,
please accept it. O Shri Ganesha! I pay my obeisance to you. Thus, it is the water to wash the feet of Shri Ganesha and I greet Him.

6. Arghya (अर्घ्थ)
After Padya offering, offer water to Shri Ganesha for head Abhishekam while chanting following Mantra.
Namaste Deva-Devesha! Namaste Dharani-Dhara!
Namaste Jagadadhara, Ganesha! Arghyam Grihana।
Gandha-Pushpakshatairyuktam, Phala-Dravya-Samanvitam॥
Grihana Toyamarghyartham, Parameshwara Vatsala!
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Arghyam Swaha॥
Shri Ganesha Arghya Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Shri Ganesha! I greet You. I salute the God of Gods who bearing or sustaining the earth! Support of the
universe! I salute you. Please accept the water for head Abhishekam. O welfare-doing supreme God! Please accept the water, mixed
with Chandan, flower and rice for head Abhishekam along with fruit and other liquids. Thus, I deliver Arghya for Shri Ganesha.

7. Gandha-Samarpan/Chandan-Samarpan (गन्ध-समपथण/चन्दन-समपथण)
Offer Chandan to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Shri-Khanda-Chandanam Divyam Gandhadhyam Sumanoharam।


Vilepanam Ganapate! Chandanam Prati-Grihyatam॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Chandanam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Chandan Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Shri Ganesha! Please accept delightful and aromatic sandal paste to anoint the body. Thus, I offer sandal paste
to Shri Ganesha.

8. Pushpa-Samarpan (पुष्प-समपथण)
Offer flowers to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Yatha-Prapta-Ritu-Pushpaih, Vilva-Tulasi-Dalaishcha!
Pujayami Ganapate! Prasida Me Sureshwara!
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Pushpam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Pushpa Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Shri Ganesha! I worship You with available seasonal flowers, Vilva and basil-leaves. O God of Gods! Please
shower me with your blessings. Thus I offer flowers for Shri Ganesha.

9. Dhoop-Samarpan (धूप-समपथण)
Now offer Dhoop to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Vanaspati-Rasodbhuto Gandhadhyah Sumanoharah।


Aghreyah Sarva-Devanam, Dhupoayam Prati-Grihyatam॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Dhoopam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Dhoop Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - Please accept this beautiful, charming, aromatic Dhoop which is made of trees' sap and qualified for inhaling by
all Gods. Thus, I offer Dhoop for Shri Ganesha.

10. Deep-Samarpan (दीप-समपथण)


Now offer Deep to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.
Sajyam Varti-Samyuktam Cha Vahnina Yojitam Maya,
Deepam Grihana Devesha! Trailokya-Timirapaham।
Bhaktya Deepam Prayachchhami Devaya Paramatmane।
Trahi Maam Nirayad Ghoraddipoayam Prati-Grihyatam॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Deepam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Deep Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods! Please accept the lamp with Ghee and lighten by me with cotton-wick, which can remove
darkness from three worlds. I offer the lamp to superior to the superior Shri Ganesh Deva with full devotion. Thus, I offer Deepak for
Shri Ganesha.

11. Naivedya-Samarpan (नैवेद्य-समपथण)


Now offer Naivedya to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Sharkara-Khanda-Khadyani Dadhi-Kshira-Ghritani Cha।


Aharo Bhakshya-Bhojyam Cha Naivedyam Prati-Grihyatam।
॥Yathamshatah Shri Ganesha-Devaya Naivedyam Samarpayami –
Om Pranaya Swaha। Om Apanaya Swaha।
Om Samanaya Swaha। Om Udanaya Swaha।
Om Vyanaya Swaha॥
Shri Ganesha Naivedya Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - Please accept the offered meal which includes sugar made sweets and other eatable and drinkable items with
curd, milk and Ghee. I offer Naivedya to, thus qualified, Shri Ganesha. Please accept it for all five vital airs of the body, namely Prana,
Apana, Samana, Udana and Vyana.

12. Achamana-Samarpan/Jal-Samarpan (आचमन-समपथण/जि-


समपथण)
Now offer water to Shri Ganesha for Achamana while chanting following Mantra.

Tatah Paniyam Samarpayami Iti Uttaraposhanam।


Hasta-Prakshalanam Samarpayami। Mukha-Prakshalanam।
Karodvartanarthe Chandanam Samarpayami।
Shri Ganesha Achamana Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - After Naivedya I offer the water for drinking and Achamana (sipping water from the palm of the hand for
purification), for cleaning hands, for cleaning face; along with sandal paste for anointing hands.

13. Tambula-Samarpan (ताम्बूि-समपथण)


Now offer Tambula (Paan with betel nuts) to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Poogi-Phalam Maha-Divyam Naga-Valli-Dalairyutam।


Karpuraila-Samayuktam Tambulam Prati-Grihyatam॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Mukha-Vasartham Poogi-Phala-Yuktam Tambulam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Tambula Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods, Please accept Tambula made of betel leaves, fortified with highly refined betel nuts, camphor and
cardamom. Thus I offer Tambula with betel-nuts for mouth refreshment of Shri Ganesha.

14. Dakshina (दलिणा)


Now offer Dakshina (gift) to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Hiranya-Garbha-Garbhastham Hema-Vijam Vibhavasoh।


Ananta-Punya-Phaladamatah Shantim Prayachchha Me॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Suvarna-Pushpa-Dakshinam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Dakshina Mantra
Mantra Translation - O God of Gods! You bestow endless blessing, please give me peace with gold-filled Champak flower. Thus, I offer
gold like flower as gift to Shri Ganesha.

15. Pradakshina (प्रदलिणा)


Now offer symbolic Pradakshina (circumambulate from left to right of Shri Ganesha) with flowers while chanting following Mantra.

Yani Kani Cha Papani Janmantara-Kritani Cha।


Tani Tani Vinashyanti Pradakshinam Pade Pade॥
Anyatha Sharanam Nasti Tvameva Sharanam Prabho!
Tasmat Karunya-Bhavena Kshamasva Parameshwara॥
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Pradakshinam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Pradakshina Mantra
Mantra Translation - Sins, whatever it may be done in this and earlier births all of them be destroyed by the self circumambulation at
every step. O Lord, please show mercy on me as there is no one but you, I prostrate in front of you, to kill all my sins and to seek Your
blessings. Thus, I offer Pradakshina to Shri Ganesha.

16. Vandana-Sahita Pushpanjali Mantra (वन्दना-सलहत पुष्पाञ्जलि)


Now perform Vandana and offer flowers to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.
Kara-Kritam Va Kayajam Karmajam Va,
Shravana-Nayanajam Va Manasam Vaaparadham।
Viditamaviditam Va Sarvametat Kshamasva,
Jai Jai Karunabdhe, Shri Ganapate! Trahi।
॥Shri Ganesha-Devaya Mantra-Pushpam Samarpayami॥
Shri Ganesha Vandana-Sahita Pushpanjali Mantra
Mantra Translation - Whatever sins have committed by actions performed by my hands and feet, produced by my body or works,
produced by my ears and eyes, or sins committed by my mind knowingly or unknowingly, please forgive them all. Victory, victory to You,
O Shri Ganesha, please protect me. Thus, I offer flowers to Shri Ganesha.

17. Sashtanga-Pranam (साष्टाङ्ग-प्रणाम)


Now offer Sashtanga Pranam (Pranam which is done with eight limbs) to Shri Ganesha while chanting following Mantra.

Namah Sarva-Hitarthaya Jagadadhara - Hetave।


Sashtangoayam Supranamah Prayatnena Maya Kritah॥
Namoastvanantaya Sahasra-Murtaye Sahasra-Padakshi-Shiroru-Bahave।
Shri Ganesha Sashtanga Pranam Mantra
मन्त्र अर्थ - सभी का कल्याण करनेवाले, जगि् के आधारभूि आपके तलये मैंने प्रयत्न-पूवणक यह साष्टाङ्ग प्रणाम तकया है - अनन्त भगवान् के तलये, सहस्ोों स्वरुपवाले भगवान् के तलये,
सहस्ोों पैर-आूँ ख-तशर-ऊरू और बाहुवाले भगवान् के तलये नमस्कार है।

18. Kshama-Prarthana (िमा-प्रार्थना)


Now seek pardon from Shri Ganesha for any known-unknown mistakes done during Puja while chanting following Mantra.
Avahanam Na Janami Na Janami Visarjanam।
Puja-Karma Na Janami Kshamasva Parameshwara॥
Mantra-Hinam Kriya-Hinam Bhakti-Hinam Sureshwara!
Maya Yat-Pujitam Deva! Paripurnam Tadastu Me॥
Aparadha - Sahasrani Kriyanteaharnisham Maya।
Dasoahamiti Maam Matva Kshamasva Parameshwara।
Vidhehi Deva! Kalyanam Vidhehi Vipulam Shriyam।
Rupam Dehi, Jayam Dehi, Yasho Dehi, Dwisho Jahi॥
Yasya Smritya Cha Namoktya Tapo-Yagya-Kriyadishu।
Nyunam Sampurnatam Yati Sadyo Vande Tamachyutam॥
Anena Yatha-Militopachara-Dravyaih Krita-Pujanena Shri Ganesha-Devah Priyatam।

Shri Ganesha Kshama Prarthana Mantra
Mantra Translation - I do not how to invoke you, nor do I know how do immerse you, and I also do not know how to worship you, O
Lord please forgive me. I do not know Mantra or holy action or devotion, O Lord whatsoever worship I have been able to do, please
make it complete. O Lord Ganesha, considering me as Your servant, forgive the thousands of sins committed by me through out the day
and night. O Lord, give me all well meaning things, give me great wealth. Give me looks, give me victory, give me fame and destroy my
enemies.
In spiritual austerity and in worshipping, by whose recollection and by whose name-chanting, whatever is partial is made complete in an
instant, to that Lord Achyuta I salute.
O Lord, as possible I have worshipped You from available Puja materials, be pleased O Lord Ganesha. Thus, I offer all this worship to
Shri Ganesha.

19. Raksha Mantra (रिा मन्त्र)


After seeking pardon from Shri Ganesha, chant following mantra while requesting to Shri Ganesha for protect yourself, after
Shodashopachara Puja (षोडशोपचार पूजा).

Om Raksha Raksha Ganadhyaksha! Raksha Trailokya - Rakshaka!


Bhaktanamabhayam Kartta! Trata Bhava Bhavarnavat।
॥Anena Pujanena Shri Ganeshah Riddhi-Siddhi-Sahitah Priyatam, Namo Namah॥
Shri Ganesha Raksha Mantra
मन्त्र अर्थ - हे गण-समूहोों के अध्यक्ष! मेरी रक्षा कररये, रक्षा कररये। हे िीनोों लोकोों के रक्षक! मेरी रक्षा कररये। हे भक्तोों को तनभणय करनेवाले! सोंसार-सागर से मेरी रक्षा करनेवाले होों।
॥ इस पूजन से ऋज्जि और तसज्जि के सतहि भगवान् गणेश प्रसन्न होों, उन्हें बारम्बार प्रणाम ॥

Shri Kuber Puja Vidhi


Lord Kuber, who is considered treasurer of the riches of the world, is worshipped along with Sri Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth.
Traditionally Shri Kuber is worshipped during Lakshmi Puja on Amavasya day. However, Shri Kuber is also worshipped on Dhan
Trayodashi during five days Diwali festivities.
If you have Murti or statue of Shri Kuber then it can be used for Puja. If you don't have Kuber Murti then as an alternate you can
consider chest (Tijori, तिजोरी) or box of Jewelry, representing Shri Kuber itself and worship it. Before you start worshipping the chest, you
should draw the sign of Swastik with Sindur and tie Moli (Kalaya) to it.

1. Dhyana (ध्यान)
First of all one should meditate and remember Shri Kuber with following Mantra.

Shri Kuber Puja during Diwali

Manuj–Brahma–Viman–Sthitam,
Garuda–Ratna–Nibham Nidhi–Naykam।
Shiva–Sakham Mukutadi–Vibhushitam,
Var–Gade Dadhatam Bhaje Tundilam॥
Shri Kubera Dhyana Mantra
Mantra Translation - I pray magnanimous Shri Kuber, Who mounts on human-form chariot, Who is master of all Nidhis (treasures)
like great Garuda, Who is friend of Lord Shiva, Who is adorned with crown and other Jewelries and Who has one hand in Var-Mudra and
carry Gada in the other hand.

2. Avahana (आवाहन)
After Dhyanam of Shri Kuber, invoke Him with following Mantra. While calling Shri Kuber your hands should be in Aavahan Mudra in
front of the chest (Aavahan Mudra is formed by joining both palms and folding both thumbs inwards).

Aavahayami Dev! Tvamihayahi Kripam Kuru।


Kosham Vardhdaya Nityam, Tvam Pari–Raksha Sureshwar॥
॥ Shri Kuber–Devam Aavahayami ॥
Shri Kubera Avahana Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Dev, Devo Ke Dev–Sureshwar! I'm inviting you. Please come and dwell here to oblige me. Please protect and
enrich my treasure and its riches. Hence I invoke Shri Kuber.

3. Pushpanjali Asana (पुष्पाञ्जलि-आसन)


Once Shri Kuber has come to the chest, take five flowers in Anjali (by joining palm of both hands) and leave them in front of the chest
to offer the seat to Shri Kuber while chanting following Mantra.
Nana–Ratna–Samayuktam Kartya–Swar–Vibhushitam।
Aasanam Dev–Devesh! Preetyartham Prati-Grihyataam॥
॥ Shri Kuber-Devay Aasanarthe Pancha-Pushpani Samarpayami ॥
Shri Kubera Pushpanjali Asana Mantra
Mantra Translation - It means–O Lord of Dev! Please accept the golden seat decorated with different types of jewels for my pleasure.
Hence, I offer five flowers for the seat of Shri Kuber.

4. Nav Upchara Pujan (नव उपचार पूजन)


After this perform Shri Kuber Puja with Chandan, Akshata, Pushpa, Doop, Deep and Naivedhya while chanting following Mantras.

Om Shri Kuberaya Namha Padyom Padhyam Samarpayami।


Om Shri Kuberaya Namha Shirsi Arghyam Samarpayami।
Om Shri Kuberaya Namha Gandhakshatam Samarpayami।
Om Shri Kuberaya Namha Pushpam Samarpayami।

5. Puja Samarpan (पूजन समपथण)


After doing Pujan as described above, take Gandha, Akshata and Pushpa in left hand and leave them over or near the chest with right
hand while chanting following Mantra.

Om Shri Kuberaya Namha।


Anen Pujanen Shri Dhanadhyaksha-Shri Kuber Preeyatam।
Namo Namah।
Shri Kubera Puja Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - I convey my regards to Shri Kuber! I hope Shri Kuber would be pleased with my worship. I salute Him again and
again.
It ends Shri Kuber Puja.
Lakshmi Puja Vidhi
We are giving detailed Lakshmi Puja Vidhi during Diwali. For Diwali Puja people
should buy the new Pratima (प्रतिमा) of Maha Lakshmi. This Puja Vidhi is given for
new Pratima or Murti (मूतिि॔) of Shri Lakshmi. The given Puja Vidhi includes all sixteen
steps of worship which is known as Shodashopachara Puja (षोडशोपचार पूजा).

Sa Nityam Padma-Hasta Mam Vasatu Grihe Sarva-Maangalya-Yukta॥
Shri Lakshmi Dhyan Mantra
Mantra Translation - Bhagawati Lakshmi, Who sits on the Lotus flower, Who has
beautiful and big eyes like lotus petals, Who has broad waist and deep circular navel,
Who is bowed with bosom weight and decorated with upper garment made of
beautiful cloth, Who has taken bath with divine golden-pitchers encrusted with
jewels, O lotus-armed Shri Lakshmi, please dwell in my home forever with all fortune
and good luck for me.
2. Aavahan (आवाहन)
After Dhyan of Shri Bhagwati Lakshmi, one should chant following Mantra in front of
the Murti, by showing Aavahan Mudra (Aavahan Mudra is formed by joining both

Worshipped by Gods! Please come and accept the Puja offered by me. Thus, I invoke
Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.

Shri Lakshmi Arghya Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Shri Lakshmi! I greet You. I salute the Goddess of Gods who
adorns the Lotus flower! O Goddess of wealth! I salute you. Please accept the water
for head Abhishekam. O welfare-doing supreme Goddess! Please accept the water,
mixed with Chandan, flower and rice for head Abhishekam along with fruit and other
liquids. Thus, I deliver Arghya for Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
7. Snana (स्नान)
After Arghya offering, offer water to Shri Lakshmi for the bath while chanting
following Mantra.

Gangasaraswatirevapayoshninarmadajalaih।
Snapitasi Maya Devi Tatha Shantim Kurushva Me॥
Adityavarne Tapasoadhijato Vanaspatistava Vrikshoatha Bilvah।
Tasya Phalani Tapasa Nudantu Mayantarayashcha Bahya Alakshmih।

9. Gandha Snana (गन्ध स्नान)


Now offer scent bath to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Om Malayachalasambhutam Chandanagarusambhavam।
Chandanam Devadeveshi Snanartham Pratigrihyatam॥

10. Shuddha Snana (शुद्ध स्नान)
After Gandhasnanam, offer bath to Shri Lakshmi with pure water while chanting
following Mantra.

Tadidam Kalpitam Tubhyam Snanartham Pratigrihyatam॥

16. Kumkuma (कुङ् कुम)


Now offer Kumkuma as symbol of Akhand Saubhagya to Shri
Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Om Kumkumam Kamadam Divyam Kumkumam Kamarupinam।


Akhandakamasaubhagyam Kumkumam Pratigrihyatam॥

20. Gandha-Samarpan/Chandan-Samarpan (गन्ध-समपथण/चन्दन-

Offer Chandan to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.
Shri-Khanda-Chandanam Divyam, Gandhaadayam Sumanoharam।
Vilepanam Maha-Lakshmi! Chandanam Prati-Grihyataam॥

Mantra Translation - O Maha Lakshmi! Please accept delightful and aromatic sandal
paste to anoint the body. Thus, I offer sandal paste to Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
21. Pushpa-Samarpan (पुष्प-समपथण)
Offer flowers to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Yatha-Prapta-Ritu-Pushpaih, Vilva-Tulasi-Dalaishcha!
Pujayaami Maha-Lakshmi! Prasida Me Sureshwari!
॥ Shri Lakshmi-Devyai Pushpam Samarpayami ॥
Shri Lakshmi Pushpa Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Maha Lakshmi! I worship You with available seasonal flowers,
Vilva and basil-leaves. O Goddess of Gods! Please shower me with your blessings.
Thus I offer flowers for Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
22. Anga-Pujan (अङ्ग-पूजन)
Now worship those Gods who are body parts of Shri Bhagawati Lakshmi itself. For
that take Gandha, Akshata and Pushpa in left hand and leave them near to Shri
Lakshmi Murti with right hand while chanting following Mantra(s).
Om Chapalaayai Namah Padau Pujayami।
Om Chanchalayai Namah Janunee Pujayami।
Om Kamalayai Namah Katim Pujayami।
Om Katyaayanyai Namah Naabhim Pujayami।

23. Ashta-Siddhi Puja (अष्ट-लसद्धद्ध पूजा)
Now worship Ashta-Siddhi near to Shri Lakshmi. For that take Gandha, Akshata and
Pushpa in left hand and leave them near to Shri Lakshmi Murti with right hand while
chanting following Mantra(s).

24. Ashta-Lakshmi Puja (अष्ट-िक्ष्मी पूजा)
After Ashta-Siddhi Puja, perform Ashta-Lakshmi Puja, near the Pratima of Maha
Lakshmi. Ashta-Lakshmi Puja should be performed with Akshata, Chandan and
flowers while chanting following Mantra -

Om Aadhya-Lakshmyai Namah। Om Vidhya-Lakshmyai Namah।


Om Saubhagya-Lakshmyai Namah। Om Amrit-Lakshmyai Namah।

25. Dhoop-Samarpan (धूप-समपथण)
Now offer Dhoop to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Vanaspati-Rasodbhuto Gandhaadhyah Sumanoharah।


Aaghreyah Sarva-Devanaam, Dhupoayam Prati-Grihyataam॥

Mantra Translation - Please accept this beautiful, charming, aromatic Dhoop which
is made of trees’ sap and qualified for inhaling by all Gods. Thus, I offer Dhoop for
Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
26. Deep-Samarpan (दीप-समपथण)
Now offer Deep to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Sajyam Varti-Sanyuktam Cha, Vahnina Yojitam Mayaa,


Deepam Grihaan Deveshi! Trailokya-Timirapaham।
Bhaktya Deepam Prayachchhaami, Shri Lakshmyai Paratparaayai।
Trahi Maam Niryaad Ghoraad, Deepoayam Prati-Grihyataam॥

Shri Lakshmi Deep-Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Goddess of Gods! Please accept the lamp with Ghee and
lighten by me with cotton-wick, which can remove darkness from three worlds. I
offer the lamp to superior to the superior Shri Lakshmi-Devi with full devotion. Thus,
I offer Deepak for Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
27. Naivedhya-Samarpan (नैवेद्य-समपथण)
Now offer Naivedhya to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Sharkara-Khanda-Khadyaani, Dadhi-Ksheera-Ghritaani Cha।


Aaharo Bhakshya-Bhojyam Cha, Naivedhyam Prati-Grihyataam।

Om Pranaya Swaha। Om Apanaya Swaha।
Om Samanaya Swaha। Om Udanaya Swaha।

Shri Lakshmi Naivedhya-Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - Please accept the offered meal which includes sugar made
sweets and other eatable and drinkable items with curd, milk and Ghee. I offer
Naivedhya to, thus qualified, Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi. Please accept it for all five vital
airs of the body, namely Praana, Apaan, Samaan, Udaan and Vyaan.
28. Achamana-Samarpan/Jal-Samarpan (आचमन-समपथण/जि-
समपथण)
Now offer water to Shri Lakshmi for Achamana while chanting following Mantra.

Tatah Paniyam Samarpayami Iti Uttaraposhanam।


Hasta-Prakshalanam Samarpayami। Mukh-Prakshalanam।
Karodvartanarthe Chandanam Samarpayami।
Shri Lakshmi Achaman Mantra
Mantra Translation - After Naivedhya I offer the water for drinking and Achamana
(sipping water from the palm of the hand for purification), for cleaning hands, for
cleaning face; along with sandal paste for anointing hands.
29. Tambool-Samarpan (ताम्बूि-समपथण)
Now offer Tambool (Paan with betel nuts) to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following
Mantra.

Poogi-Phalam Maha-Divyam, Naga-Valli-Dalairyutam।


Karpurailaa-Samayuktam, Tamboolam Prati-Grihyataam॥

Shri Lakshmi Tambool Samarpan Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Goddess of Gods, Please accept Tamboola made of betel
leaves, fortified with highly refined betel nuts, camphor and cardamom. Thus I offer
Tamboola with betel-nuts for mouth refreshment of Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
30. Dakshina (दलिणा)
Now offer Dakshina (gift) to Shri Lakshmi while chanting following Mantra.

Hiranya-Garbha-Garbhastham, Hema-Veejam Vibhaavasoh।


Ananta-Punya-Phaladamatah Shantim Prayachchha Me॥
॥ Shri Lakshmi-Devyai Suvarna-Pushpa-Dakshinaam Samarpayami ॥
Shri Lakshmi Dakshina Mantra
Mantra Translation - O Goddess of Gods! You bestow endless blessing, please give
me peace with gold-filled Champak flower. Thus, I offer gold like flower as gift to
Bhagawati Shri Lakshmi.
31. Pradakshina (दलिणा)
Now offer symbolic Pradakshina (circumambulate from left to right of Shri Lakshmi)
with flowers while chanting following Mantra.
Yani Yani Cha Papani, Janmantar-Kritani Cha।
Tani Tani Vinashyanti, Pradakshinam Pade Pade॥
Anyatha Sharanam Naasti, Tvameva Sharanam Devi!
Tasmaat kaarunya-Bhaven, Kshamasva Parameshwari॥

Shravan-Nayanajam Vaa Manasam Vaaparadham।
Viditamaviditam Vaa, Sarvametat Kshamasva,

Now offer Sashtanga Pranam (Pranam which is done with eight limbs) to Shri

Prasannaa Santushtha Bhava Devi! Namoastu Te।
