Introduction to Basic Multisim Commands, Implementation of Small Practice

Circuits and Familiarization with Analysis modes

Objectives:

 To learn about different Toolbars in Multisim

 To design small circuits in Multisim
 To learn about different simulation modes

Introduction:

Multisim, now known as NI Circuit Design Suite, is a robust simulation software

widely employed for the design and analysis of electronic circuits. It permits users to simulate
and assess circuits before their physical construction, aiding in debugging and optimizing
designs. The software seamlessly combines industry-standard SPICE simulation with an
interactive schematic environment, providing immediate visualization and analysis of
electronic circuit behavior. Designed by National Instruments, NI Multisim serves as a
comprehensive tool for electronic circuit design, simulation, and testing. Its schematic editor
enables users to simulate various electronic circuits, encompassing DC, AC, and transient
responses. The software boasts a library of diverse electronic components and virtual
instruments such as oscilloscopes and function generators, facilitating interactive circuit
exploration. Recognized for its user-friendly interface, Multisim is particularly beneficial in
educational settings, supporting educators in reinforcing circuit theory and enhancing student
retention throughout engineering curricula. The software's hands-on approach allows for the
design, simulation, and comprehension of electronic circuits prior to physical implementation.
Furthermore, Multisim offers integration capabilities with other NI software and hardware,
enabling instrument control and interfacing with real-world setups. Widely adopted in
educational institutions, it provides a platform for students to gain practical experience in

electronics. Additionally, Multisim seamlessly integrates with NI Ultiboard for PCB layout and
routing, delivering a comprehensive solution for electronics design and prototyping.

Procedure and Observations:

Open the Multisim and click component selection window to select and place components
in the workspace. After that make circuit by joining end points of components. Also place
the probes. Then select the simulation mode we want to run and then click run to obtain
output results.

Task 1: Take a screenshot of your Multisim Blank File. Identify and label the different toolbars
and toolboxes present with different numbers as shown in the figure below. Write a detailed
description of the toolbars and the functions they have.

Task 3: Set the voltage of the AC source to 30V, resistance of R1 to 3𝑘Ω and resistance of
R2 to 2𝑘Ω (Include the screenshot of the circuit). Perform the transient analysis of the
circuit to display 3 cycles of the waveform. Display the voltage of source and resistors on
the plot. (Include Screenshot of the Transient Analysis)

Comment on what difference is observed in the plots obtained through DC Analysis

as compared to those obtained through transient analysis. Pay Special Focus to X-
Axis of the graphs.

The DC Analysis shows the change against the changing voltage of source however
Transient Analysis shows change in value against time.

Conclusion:

In this lab we conclude that
