RAID CONFIGURATION

Introduction:

The purpose of the document is to explain the configuration changes to be done in RAID.

Condition 1: Removing One HDD and replacing with new HDD

a. Connect the HDD which need to be replaced.


b. Press CTRL+R to run RAID Configuration Utility. New HDD will be shown as below. Press ‘C’ and load the
configuration utility.

Note: Please do not import ‘Foreign Configuration(s)’, If you are not sure about the ‘Foreign configuration(s)’ present in
the newly connected HDD. It will over-write the present data.
c. Press Ctrl+N to navigate to ‘Foreign View’.
d. Press Down arrow and navigate to PERC H310 Adapter. Then press F2 –Operations, and click ‘Clear’ to clear the
foreign object.
e. Now the new HDD will be shown as Unconfigured Physical Disks in VD Mgmt.
f. Navigate to ‘Disk Group : 0,RAID 1’ , Press ‘F2 –Operations’ and Click ‘Manage Ded. HS’
g. Press Enter, the marker ‘*X+’ will appear on the Disk ID. Then Press ‘OK’.
h. Now the Disk will be RAID configured and the process for Rebuild will start.
i. Press ‘Esc’ key to Exit and reboot the PC, the following screen will appear during boot up. Once the rebuild process
is complete, ‘1 Virtual Drive(s) Degraded’ message will disappear.
Condition 2: Configuring RAID for two new HDD

Both the HDD’s should be of same volume (Eg: 1TB) and same manufacturer (Eg: SEAGATE).

a. Connect the HDD which need to be replaced.


Press CTRL+R to run RAID Configuration Utility.

b. Navigate to ‘PERC H310 Adapter’ and Press ‘F2-operations’. Press Create New VD.
c. Enter RAID level as ‘Raid-1’ and then select both the Physical disks. VD size will appear as 931.00GB.
d. Enter VD name as ‘ARRAY01’.
e. Select ‘Advanced Settings’, the ‘Advanced Settings’ will be enabled. Select ‘Initialize’ and Press ‘OK’.
