32 Factorise : a) (l + m)² – (l – m)²

b) The area of a rectangle is x² + 12xy + 27y² and its length is (x + 9y). Find the

breadth of the rectangle.

33 i) Shopkeeper purchased a TV at Rs 15000 and gives a discount of 20% on its marked


price and still got a profit of 8 %. Find the marked price of the TV.

ii) Shyam purchases a pair of shoes whose selling price price is Rs. 175. If he pays GST at
the rate of 15%, how much amount does he pay as GST? Also, find the net value of the
pair of shoes

34 Water is poured from a cuboidal container of dimensions 40 m by 11 m by 9 m into cylindrical


container of radius 7 m assuming that water does not overflow the container, how many metre high
will the water reach?

35 Construct a grouped frequency table and histogram for the following marks obtained by 50 students
using equal Intervals taking 16-24 (24 not included) as one of the class-intervals.

The practice of charging too much interest for a loan is

as ‘usury’. It first became common in England
under King Henry VIII. It is banned by the govt. as an
illegal practice because very high interest rates on loan
can drive people to poverty. The Govt. has set up rules
for banks and other financial institutions for lending
money at reasonable rates of interest for activities such as
agriculture, small industries and education.

Imagine, a farmer took loan for agriculture in ancient


‘usury’ system. He borrowed Rs. 10,000 at the interest of
60% p.a. compounded half-yearly.

1. Find the amount to be repaid by him after 1 year.

borrowed at 5% per annum for 1 year.
