The Use of Electronic Medical Record Among The Nurses
Nurses, being the single largest healthcare providers all over the world, are important to the
investigating the use of electronic medical record system and its associated factors among nurses
in Abaji General Hospital, Federal Capital Territory Abuja. A descriptive Cross-sectional design
was used for this study. The population of interest consisted of 146 Nurses in Abaji General
Hospital, FCT Abuja. The data was collected using a predesigned questionnaire with informed
consent and responses were analyzed using (SPSS package) 25 th edition. The outcome of the
study shows that there was good influence of technological factors 90(61.4%) and organizational
factors 78(53.3%) in the adoption of electronic medical record, but there is low utilization
75(51.2%) of electronic medical record by the nurses. The system success of the adopted of
performance 89(61.2%), reduction in the waiting time of patients 90(61.5%), easy research
activities 95(65.0%), declined stress 83(57.1%), increased revenue 80(55.0%), easy statistical
compilation 90(61.7%), increased hospital revenue 87(59.6%), and financial liquidity 94(64.1%).
Hypothesis tested revealed that there is no significant relationship between socio demographic
use and factors influencing the use of electronic medical record system among nurses with
(x2=25.600, P=.409) and there is a significant relationship between the use of electronic medical
record system and its associated factors among nurses with (x2=11.991, P=.000). It is therefore
recommended that adequate training on the use of EMR in patient care should be provided for
