SOFTWARE INSTALLATION GUIDE

Stepwise Procedure:
ArcGIS Software Installation
Step 1: Installation of ArcGIS Desktop

▪ Open Folder “ArcGIS 10.4.1” and Double

click on ArcGIS_Desktop_1041_151727.exe
to install the software. (or Right-click on the
ArcGIS_Desktop_1041_151727.exe file
to Run as Administrator)

▪ The files are extracted to the Documents folder

by default.

▪ When the extraction process is completed,

ensure that the option "Launch the setup
program" is checked and close the window.

▪ Click Next on the Welcome window.

▪ Read through and accept the license

agreement. Then click Next.

▪ Select the Complete option under Installation

Type. Click Next.

▪ The application is installed in the C:\Program

Files. Click Next.

▪ The program will install Python into a default

folder. Click Next.

▪ You can choose to participate (or not) in the

Esri User Experience Improvement program
by checking the box. Click Install.

▪ Installation of the software may take several

few minutes (about 20-30 minutes).

▪ Click Finish once the installation is

completed.
▪ The ArcGIS Administrator Wizard should
open

▪ In the ArcGIS Administrator Wizard

1. Select a Product
▪ Select “Advanced (ArcInfo) Concurrent
Use”

2. Define a License Manager for Concurrent

use Product
▪ Select “Define a License Manager later
from the ArcGIS Administrator”

Click OK.

Step 2: Installation of ArcGIS License Manager

▪ Open Folder “ArcGIS 10.4.1” and Double

click on “ArcGIS_License_Manager_
Windows_104_149423.exe” to install ArcGIS
License Manager.

▪ The files are extracted to the Documents folder

by default.

▪ When the extraction process is completed,

ensure that the option "Launch the setup
program" is checked and close the window.

▪ Click Next on the Welcome window.

▪ Read through and accept the license

▪ Click Install for running of installation

Step 3: ArcGIS License Manager Patch

Open “This PC” => Right Click on “This PC”

=> Goto “Properties”

Copy “Computer name”

(Change Settings => Change => Copy “Computer
name”)

Open “service.txt” file from “D:\Backup\ArcGIS

10.4.1\Patch_ArcGIS.v10.4.1\Patch”

Replace “localhost “ or “BIJAYA_MAHARJAN”

with your PC name/ Computer name from above

Save the file and close it.

Click on “Start” windows => Goto “ArcGIS” =>

Click on “License Server Administrator => Click
“Start/Stop License Service” => Click on “Stop”

Copy “ARCGIS.exe” and “service.txt” from

“D:\Backup\ArcGIS
10.4.1\Patch_ArcGIS.v10.4.1\Patch”
Paste “ARCGIS.exe” and “service.txt” to
“C:\Program Files
(x86)\ArcGIS\License10.4\bin” => “Copy and
Replace” => Continue

Open “ArcGIS License Server Administrator” =>

Click on “Re-read Licenses” and Click on “Start”
Click on “OK”

Similarly,
Copy “AfCore.dll” from “D:\Backup\ArcGIS
10.4.1\Patch_ArcGIS.v10.4.1\Patch”
Paste “AfCore.dll” to “C:\Program Files
(x86)\ArcGIS\Desktop10.4\bin” => “Copy and
Replace” => Continue
Click on “Start” windows => Goto “ArcGIS” =>
Click on “ArcGIS Administrator => Click
“Desktop” => Click on “Change” => Type the
exact name of your PC or Paste name of your PC
=> Click “OK” => OK
(For PC Name: Open “This PC” => Right Click on “This PC”
=> Goto “Properties” => Change Settings => Change =>
Copy “Computer name”)

Installation Completed……

To open ArcGIS,
Click on “Start” windows => Goto “ArcGIS” =>
Click on “ArcMap 10.4.1”
