Discussion Points: Course of action on loss of flow in any pass of F101/F201

 Low Crude flow in CDU Furnace. Ensure firing is stopped to avoid coking in coil. Thermal sock
may arise in furnace.
 Either hydrocarbon / coil purging steam should flow in coils till furnace box is cooled. Do not
allow the furnace run dry.

 Inform Panel Officers / Shift in Charge. Don’t bypass any process interlocks / approved procedure.
Ensure Coil purging steam in F- 101/201/002 is warmed up condition, free of condensate.
Hammering in Coil may arise. Header should be properly warmed up and IVs to be fully
opened.

 On flow reducing below trip value ensure furnace F-101/201 is tripped on Low Low flow
Interlock. Check XZVs in field for physically verifying valve closure.

 Fully Close FG and FO control valves.

 Physically isolate all FO and FG burners.

 On NO Flow Condition in any passes F-101/201 furnace coils may coke / oxidized due to high
radiation / convection heat. This may lead to Coil Metal Failure, High Skin Temp.

 Open Bypass valve of control valve to establish flow.

 Establish coil purging steam flow gradually in the particular passes.

 Establish coil purging steam flow gradually in that particular pass if HC flow with bypass
valve is not opened. Hammering may happen. Ensure coil purging steam is dry.

 Slowly open coil purging steam.

 Monitor Column pressure and bottom pump flow.
