4.1 Somila wants to buy a computer costing R10 500 on a hire purchase agreement. The conditions of the
agreement are
Somila must pay a deposit of 25% of the purchase price.
Interest is charged at 15% pa simple interest on the balance.
She must also pay a compulsory monthly insurance premium of R70.75.
The balance must be settled in monthly instalments.
4.1.1 Calculate the balance after Somila pays the deposit. (2)
4.1.2 If the balance is to be paid in 24 months, calculate Somila’s monthly payment. (4)
4.2 The town planner of a certain town in South Africa is planning for new parking space in the town
parking. There are 1300 cars in the city now and 900 parking slots. The number of cars in the town
grows at a rate of 70% pa.
The town council is to construct 500 new parking slots in the next 3 years.
4.2.1 Calculate how many cars will be in the town after 3 years. (3)

spun, the spinner has an equal chance of stopping at any of the numbers 1 to 12.
7.2.1 For any random spin, what is the probability that the spinner will stop at a square (1)
number?
7.2.2 The number that the spinner stopped at after the first spin was recorded. The (3)
number that the spinner stopped at after the second spin was also recorded.
Calculate the probability that the sum of the two numbers at which the spinner
stopped is greater than 2.
