My studies at school

I studied at the Rivne Regional Lyceum, which is a state school. It was founded in 1974, but it has
been recently renovated. I had been studying here for 4 years and during this period of time, I worked
with relish and application, enjoyed studying, that’s why I have improved my English and German skills
and vocabulary dramatically.
To begin with, it’s important to say, that it was very complicated to take to studying at this
establishment with new classmates and teachers. At first, I couldn’t keep marks to a respectable standard
and spent a lot of time on books. I knew, that it is a strictly disciplined school and there are lots of
school rules, but it was a surprise for me, that students, who disrupt discipline and make bad progress
can be expelled. That’s why, I had to work hard and to do a lot of swotting. In addition, there were lots
of rules both for boys and girls – they are: girls must wear burgundy uniform, even black skirt wasn’t
allowed. Boys must wear black suite with a necktie. It was forbidden for girls to wear hair loose, to wear
makeup and to do the manicure. If you break the school rules, you will face the music with the head
teacher. By the way, if you receive 3 warnings about the violation, you will be expelled.
When I was in the 10th class, I had already kept marks to a respectable standard and enjoyed studying.
I can’t say, I was a top pupil, but I led the class in English and Ukrainian. These subjects appealed to me
and despite the fact, that the teachers were strict, they judged the pupils only by the quality of their
works, that’s why I did my best and spent a lot of time practicing to get excellent marks. These teachers
always taught our class effectively, they used modern teaching techniques and could easily restore
discipline in the class. Honestly to say, I was at odds with Math, because the teacher was too strict and I
had never understood the material, that she was explaining during the lesson.
By the beginning of the 11th class, I was chosen a vice speaker of the lyceum, that’s why I got much
more work, than I had earlier. I organized various fests, fairs and competitions, so that I didn’t have any
problems with the class and the administration. In the lyceum there was a great cooperation between
school and parents, so the parent – teacher meetings were very rarely.
To conclude, I am very glad, that I graduated from such a prestigious establishment, which produced
the desired effect and gave me impetus to learn the humanities further.
