Natural disasters

To begin with, natural disasters occur every now and then causing severe damage. Some
of them are earthquakes, cyclones, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruption, and so on. These
unpreventable events are frequently called acts of God. However, are they?

Unfortunately, we get the news of natural disasters and their devastating consequences
each and every year. For instance, the infamous earthquakes in Turkey and Syria that
effected 15.73 million people in both countries. Hence, some victims were injured or killed,
some were left with no property and family. The above-mentioned countries have got a
heavy blow to their infrastructure, travel business, economic development.

All in all, the number and extent of such cases tend to increase annually. Obviously, natural
calamities are the outcome of either natural or human activities.

Is there anything in our power to prevent it? Overall, we aren’t able to stop natural
phenomena from happening. However, there is no doubt at all that our actions have an
immense impact on the environment. For example, all the toxic and industrial waste, exhaust
gases, illegal dumping along with carbon emissions lead to global issues, including water, air
and soil pollution, climate change, global warming, land degradation, extinction of animals
etc. Moreover, we are yet to face the music due to all the war activity, since the explosions
are of no good to the Earth indeed.

Importantly, we’re capable of reducing the damage caused by natural hazards. Firstly, we
should decrease the carbon footprint by supporting environmentally friendly policy and
technologies. Furthermore, it’s crucial to prevent the deaths while monitoring geological
movements, warning the civilians of the threat and, of course, ensuring the safety of
infrastructure, so that the people can return to their livelihoods.

To conclude, natural disasters are the burden that we all share. In general, they can’t be
controlled, yet it depends on us whether they will pick up steam and bring chaos or slow
down.
