Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric - Unit 2 - Task 4 Oral Expression Journey
1. Activity Description
In this task, you will record a 3-minute video exhibiting local cultural
aspects such as iconic landmarks, parks, tourist attractions, and
culinary highlights of the place where you live or you were born, while
communicating effectively about cultural identity, gastronomy,
festivities, and personal connections to the showcased location. You
must employ appropriate language proficiency, grammar, vocabulary,
and pronunciation aligned with the course level. You will also
participate in a minimum of 3 STT (Student Talking Time) workshops,
to acquire practical experience in using English language skills in real-
time discussions.
STEP 1 / PREPARATION
STAGE 3 (Optional)
This stage is for practice only and will not be graded. For this stage,
your critical and professional thinking are required to attend the job
interview. It is now time to get the job of your life. Let´s do it together!
3.1. The student can request a 15-minute slot from their tutor for a
mock interview exercise. This activity is not mandatory, carries no
evaluative weight, and its execution depends on the tutor's
availability. If you wish to carry it out, please contact your tutor
through the established communication channels and request an
appointment for the practice session.
3.2. Students who wish to complete the practice exercise must request
their appointment during the first week of the task. Starting from the
second week, no practice slots will be scheduled.
3.3. During the meeting, your tutor will ask you some of the
following questions in English:
• Can you describe the city or town where you were born or
currently live?
• What are some unique cultural traditions or customs specific to
your hometown or current place of residence?
• Could you highlight a few popular or traditional dishes from
your region or city? How are they prepared and what makes
them special?
• Are there any landmarks or iconic places in your area that you
find interesting or significant? Could you share a bit about
them?
• Are there any important historical events or dates associated
with your hometown or the region you live in? How are these
events celebrated or remembered?
• Can you discuss any significant festivals or celebrations that
take place in your area? What makes them special or unique?
• How has the place where you live or were born influenced your
lifestyle or daily routine?
• Have you noticed any changes in your community over recent
years? If so, what are they and how do they impact the area's
culture or lifestyle?
• Do you think the local culture and traditions are well preserved
in your area, or have they evolved over time? In what ways?
• Can you share a personal story or experience that reflects how
your hometown or current place of residence has impacted or
shaped your life?
4.2. Share how this place has impacted your life. Always keep the
camera on during the recording. You can choose to create a
presentation with photographs or take the viewers on a live tour of the
places you wish to showcase. Ensure that the audio quality is clear and
that you use correct grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation in
accordance with the level of the course.
4.3. Once you had recorded your video, upload it to YOUTUBE and
share the link in the forum, be sure your video is public.

criterion: criteria mentioned in Stage 4. The video lasts around 3

Low Level: The student shares the video but does not
fulfill all the criteria: it is too short; it does not respond to
all the questions, and it is not shared on the forum.
The student does not share any video. The student does
not participate in this task.

and 9 points.
