I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. analyze the short story "A Day in the Country" by Anton Chekhov through
the elements of a short story;
b. construct a plot of the events happened in the story “A Day in the
Country”; and
c. share viewpoints on the gift of nature present in the story "A Day in the
Country".

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities:

Developmental Activities
1. Motivation:
The teacher will show 5 sets of pictures. Each set has 4 pictures and it
has a corresponding word. To accomplish this activity, the teacher will
ask volunteers from the class and each volunteer should guess the
word that the pictures are trying to convey. There will also letters that
are being scrambled to guide the students to the correct word. The
volunteers will be given 10 seconds to guess the word and for instance
that the volunteer failed to guess the word within 10 seconds, the
teacher will call another volunteer to help the former one.

5. Application
The class will be divided into four groups. Each group will have to
outline the events happened in the story from the beginning up the end
following the parts of the plot (Exposition, Rising Action, Conflict,
Falling Action, and Denouement). They will be given 10 minutes to
finish the task. After that, the group will pick a representative to share
their output in front of the class.
6. Generalization
To check if the students were able to understand the discussion, these
few questions will be asked by the teacher.
a. As a student, how relevant is the story to your life?
b. Why should we embrace and love our nature?
IV. Evaluation
Answer the chart below to analyze the short story “A Day in the Country.”
