A School Business Administrator performs duties at the school district level in the areas
of budget preparation and administration, risk management, purchasing, transportation, food
services, school plant operations and facility planning. School business administration also
involves the provision and management of the financial and material resources efficiently for the
attainment of school goals and objectives. School administrators mainly include principals and
assistant principals. District and school administrators play a critical role in improving the
learning environment and overall academic progress of their students. District and school

District superintendents and central administration make important decision that impact
all staff. They can encourage and advocate for school climate improvements through the school
district’s mission, training priorities, and promotional activities. Within each school, the
principal plays a central role in guiding teachers and supporting staff. When teachers and staff
are supported, students are supported. Therefore, district and school administrators need to be
conscious of staff well-being, burnout, and promoting a positive and healthy culture in the
schools. Integrating trauma-informed responses and cultural competency while building
relationships with staff interactions will greatly influence the student-staff dynamics.
