3. HAZARD IDENTIFICA

When mixed with water or on contact of powder with body fluids, produces a strongly alkaline solu on. This
may cause serious burns and ulceraon both to the skin and eyes. Un l set these products may cause

dermas due to either their high alkalinity.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES
EYE : Irritant due to causc nature of all cement based products. Wash eyes immediately with plenty of clean
water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice without delay.

SKIN : Contact with skin will cause irritaon.

Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water. If irritaon connues seek medical advice. Clothing
contaminated with wet product should be removed and washed thoroughly before re-use.

INHALATION : As with all products containing cement, material is irritant to the mucous membranes of the
respiratory tract. Move person to fresh air. Seek medical a enon for discomfort or if coughing or other
symptoms do not subside.

INGESTION : Do not induce voming. If conscious, have person drink plenty of water. Seek medical a enon
or contact poison control center immediately.

FIRST AID FACILITY : Eyewash and safety shower should be available in workplace.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

These products are not flammable and will not facilitate combuson of other materials.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS : Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid breathing dust.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS : Prevent contaminaon of surface water. Do not allow into watercourses
and drains.

METHODS FOR CLEANING : Recover spillage in dry state if possible. Minimize generaon of airborne dust. The
product can be slurried with water. Keep children away from clean-up operaon. Dispose to a place
authorized to accept builder’s waste. Small quanes can be disposed of as normal household waste.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
HANDLING : When handling bags of product, due regard should be paid to Manual Handling Opera on
Regulaons 1992. Some bags may have a small amount of cement dust on their outer surface. Appropriate
personal protecon should be used whilst handling.

STORAGE : Keep containers ghtly closed in dry, cool and well-venlated place.

Avoid moisture to prevent hardening. Keep containers and bags closed when not in use. Check regularly for
leaks.

STABILITY : Stable under normal room temperature and condi ons. Bags will set solid if con nually soaked
with water.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATI

EYE : Cement is a severe eye irritant. Mild exposure can cause soreness. Gross exposures or untreated mild
exposures can lead to chemical burning or ulceraon of the eye.

SKIN : Cement powder or cement/water mixtures can cause irritant contact derma s, allergic (chromium)
dermas and/or burn.

INGESTION : Swallowing of small amounts is unlikely to cause

c ause any significant reacon. Larger amounts may
result in irritaon to the gastro-intesnal tract.

INHALATION : The powder can cause inflammaon of mucous membranes.

CHRONIC EFFECTS : Prolonged and repeated exposures, in excess of the OES may cause rhinis and coughing
and permanent damage to the lungs (silicosis). This is a reportable disease in the U.K. Skin contact may cause
allergic (chromium) dermas, usually through contact with the wet mix.
