NARRATIVE REPORT ON CATCH UP FRIDAYS

February 2, 2024

MORNING SESSION: “DROP EVERYTHING & READ”

What is happening on the day of February 2, 2024 during Catch up Fridays.
Grade 6 pupils were already grouped according to their level. Pupils under “FULL
REFRESHER” were those who has struggling when it comes to reading and comprehension.
It is indeed that the teacher was able to give and support activities suited to their
capabilities, and these are follows:

 Pupil Read-Aloud – Teacher provided a story as a Springboard. The story of course

was taken from Grade 3 level were in most of the fall under frustration level. Reading
aloud by the pupil helps them understand the story and they were able to answer the
follow-up questions.
 Choral Reading – Pupils enjoyed it so much because for them reading chorally helps
them understand the story. The chosen text also was moderate length and aligned
with their level. During the activity teacher guided them as they read.
 Read-A-Thon – One way to find out if the learner really understand the story is to give
them at least 10 mins to internalize the story and let them retell through reading
interpretation.
 Group Reading- this activity really appreciated by the pupils because they were able to
share their insights and work collaboratively with their co-members.

The effectiveness of the given/ provided activities showed in their output and reflections
submitted.
