☐ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the teacher's
direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly practice based.

☒ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of learning
and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates the learning as
the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing authentic/real-world
projects to demonstrate their learning and publish results outside of the classroom. (Note: This objective
could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the
classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.)
How will you connect this topic to students’ prior knowledge as you teach?

Have children think about what some shapes are they know also has them think about shapes that
they can see in everyday life (ex. squares can pizza boxes, SpongeBob, Amazon boxes). Talk to
children about what they already know about shapes and their properties such as squares have four
sides.

Managing the technology:

During the reading of the eBook many components are interactive, and children should be
encouraged to answer the questions and have discussions about the properties of shapes. Children
should also participate in discussion through co-engagement by collaborating with other students
and deciding on the identification or classification of each shape. Teachers should encourage each
child to have the opportunity to participate in the story and allow all children to have a chance to
evaluate, analyze and apply what they learned about shapes to answer questions and the story.
During the next part of the activity children should be able to apply the same concepts that they saw
in the story to create their own. Co-use/Co-engagement, exploration activities to extend their
learning, time-on-task with continued focus on the learning goal.

Lesson idea implementation:

During the lesson, a story time activity will be implemented to introduce ideas of shapes and blooms
taxonomy. I will make students aware of their goals by creating a KWL chart or what they know want
to know and learn about shapes and how to create deeper learning and understanding. The students
will use PowerPoint to create and publish their own eBooks about the dollars they have learned
about shapes. conclude activity have students share each of them. eBooks and collaborate on
knowledge they have learned as a community
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Engagement, Representation, or Action and
Expression

The lesson plan supports components of the UDL framework by allowing students to have an active
part of their learning or give them a creative way to express their knowledge. and appeals to
representation by allowing children both audio and visuals and creative ways to express learning
goals. finally, it also appeals to action and expression by having children be able to create and
publish their own eBook to reflect what they have learned.
