Leadership
Styles
Leadership style refers to the ways in which decision makers behave or
reveal their behaviour. These are the five common styles of leadership
specified:

AUTOCRATIC
This leadership style is suitable in situations that
require quick decision-making such as during a
crisis or when dealing with a hostile takeover.
Advantage are appropriate when workers are
inexperienced and so reliant on directions of leaders.
Disadvantage are communication is top-down which
means that all suggestions of workers are ignored

PATERRNALISTIC
Paternalistic are leadership style that its
leader acts in a fatherly manner to guide
and protect the workers, who is expected
to be loyal and obedient. Advantage are
enabling cultural setting people to work
hard due to respect and gratitude for their
leaders. Disadvantage are it doesn’t suit
well with workers who doesn’t want their
perceived interests to be dictated by a
certain leader

DEMOCRATIC
This leadership style enables all decision-making
to be decentralized, where leaders and
employees are able to express their views
together. Advantage are decision-making can be
more effective where leader may not be present
but employees can share ideas. Disadvantage
are since it is decentralized, more people and
involved in the proccess and thus, slowing
decision-making

LAISSEZ-FAIRE
This leadership allows junior workers to make
their own decisions and to complete task in
their own preferences. It is suitable in places
where creativity is a major categories in such
advertising agencies. Advantage are enabling
to create more motivation where employees
felt trusted and highy valued. Disadvantage are
coordination becomes time consuming with
lack of support and supervision, causing
execution of business strategy to be prolonged

SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP
This leadership style is unlike any of the others,
where they tend to think to adapt to the right
leadership style for the right situation. Advantage
are flexiblity, which leaders could adapt to suit a
specific development condition with its team.
Disadvantage are complexity may occurs,
leaders need to require deep understanding of
different circumstances of models and may
cause unconsistent and unappropriate
adaptation, hindering communication
