Narrative Report
Capacity Building on The Implementation of Catch-Up Fridays
School Based Inset
January 24-26, 2024

San Isidro Elementary School conducted a 3day School-Based Inset intitled Capacity Building on
the Implementation of Catch-Up Fridays. It always started our program by singing the Nationalistic Song
followed by the prayer led by one of the co-teachers, then ma’am Jennifer A. Soner the school principal
gave an Opening Remarks.
The first speaker of the inset was ma’am Rose Ann B. Grona Grade 6 adviser, she discussed about
Guidelines for Catch-Up Fridays. In adherence to Deped memo No.1 s.2024 every Friday starting January
2024 will be designated by this program and their goal is to enhance learners’ knowledge and skills and
appreciation of reading, values, and health education. All learners from kindergarten to grade 12 shall be
use the time to read books, articles, and other reading materials based on their interest. Ma’am Rose Ann
also discussed the use of some suggested activities for reading Intervention like Pre-reading, During
reading and Post reading.
The next speaker was ma’am Bernadeth B. San Juan a Grade 3 teacher, she discussed about
Teaching Guide for Catch-Up Fridays. The other speakers were Ma’am Olivia G. Banayo for ESP, Ma’am
Jennyvi D. Catapang for Peace Education, and Ma’am Mikaela Mendoza for Health Education. What they
discussed were their suggested strategies and activities that are suited for each grade level.
In Values Education the foundational goal of Catch-Up Fridays a dedicated time for Good Manners
and Right Conduct. (GMRC). This initiative commits developing individuals who are not only academically
accomplished but also exhibit strong, character traits like compassion empathy, responsibility, and moral
integrity.
For Health Education, recognizing the crucial role of health education in fostering young minds and
bodies also will empower learners to catch-up reinforce and deepen their understanding or vital health
concepts. Peace Education is crucial for fostering a more compassionate, just, and suitable world, by
equipping individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute positively to their communities.
On the second day of INSET, Ma’am Leslie A. Banayo and Sir Alfonso De Lamar show sample
activities for primary and intermediate learners. After that, all participants were assigned to make materials
for Catch-up Fridays as one of the outputs and presented by grade level.
On the last day of LAC, the presentation of the outputs. Their outputs where critized by the school
head, master teacher and the LR coordinator.
The LAC was fruitful and the participants enjoyed the activities given to them. A smile on their faces
as they received the certificates and also medicates the positive response on the LAC.
