brutality as a result of racism

2. LBB: diction & language LD: colons&semi-colons (8,10..)-adds emphasis, interjection (2)
breaks flow, stress- inversion (9), altered message…break in flow, accentuates.

3. LBB: illustrative LD: dichotomy black x white (lines 2,3,4) - Allusion africa & religion (1,14,16)
-beauty in tragedy, gravity yet futility of issue

4. Songs: LBB=LVB -children oppressed… voice of child narrator, church/religion vs. child

and direct) USA shirt (placing blame)

and death, invokes strong emotion through simplicity)

8. BOW NL: Trump, welcome to america cover – use of simplicity in color, image and text to
accentuate issue- small child, trump towering over, hard hitting text… Kobe Bryant memorial
issue – simple black and white image plus birth and death dates

9. BOW NL: Soviet Union in Chaos 1991 issue, uses a multitude of color and text to invoke
chaos underlining the issue, contrast to chosen NL and devices used

10. Conclusion: effects of racism – LBB: equality in the eyes of god, futility of issue due to overall
irrelevance…yet still persists, NL:police brutality, gravity and actual impact of said issue, and
contemporary effects
