As a part of the 5th semester project our team has decided to work especially on 3 main projects.
They are Hydroponics, Vermicompost, and Micro greens.
We already had hands-on experience in vermicompost as we had prepared it in our college field
in the presence of our HOD Mr. Surendra sagar sir.
So we have decided to work on Hydroponics and Micro Greens.

Hydroponics
For the past 1 year I have been working on a Hydroponics project. I have raised lettuce crops,
Spinach crops and am currently raising fenugreek crops.
My Idea on Hydroponics for this 5th semester project is to cultivate the Fenugreek crop with
good nutritional values in hydroponics and supply them to our working faculty in our college.
I had marketing skills and been experiencing it for the past 3 years and for this project also I'm
willing to do the same.
The reason I have selected this crop is because this crop regulates cholesterol levels and
improves blood pressure, which can reduce the risk of developing heart conditions and improve
heart health.
As Health is Wealth we have every right to have good nutritional food. This is my concept on
studying agriculture and selecting this project too.
On 04/02/2024 we soaked the fenugreek seeds in water overnight and on 05/02/2024 sterilized
the hydroponics unit with formaldehyde and potassium permanganate.
As hydroponics is soilless culture we are using cocopeat as a replacement of soil.
We have sterilized cocopeat with a formaldehyde solution or in absence of it we can also sun dry
the cocopeat for 4-5 hours in bright sun.
After that On 05/02/2024 we cleaned the unit and sowed the seeds in planting trays filled with
cocopeat.
We kept the trays under the lights and set the temperature for 12 hrs light intensity.
On 07/02/2024 the seeds were germinated.
On 11/02/2024 we transplanted the seedlings from planting trays to net pots filled with cocopeat
and placed them in hydroponics pipes.
We have prepared an irrigation solution with N:P:K of 5:5:5.
And regulating the irrigation for every 2 days.
Day by day 2 members of our team are visiting the unit and checking the growth parameters in
the unit.
We will change the water for 1 week as if it is not changed it leads to the contamination and
spread of diseases.
After 15 days we are expecting the harvest and we are going to market within our college
campus.
This is our complete idea on our project based on hydroponics.

Microgreens
We haven't started microgreens yet but we are going to start this project on 16/02/2024.
Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs.
Unlike larger herbs and vegetables that take weeks or months to grow, microgreens can be
harvested and eaten in a week to 10 days after the leaves have been developed.
We are planning to grow the following Microgreens:-
Wheat grass
Amaranthus
Bengal gram
Spinach
Mustard
Flax seeds
Our idea to raise microgreens is at our home with minimal equipment,
In netted trays or tubs by soaking the seeds in water before the process and cultivating them in
these trays with water,
We also market this harvest within our college campus.
