NSOM: A Profile
About our Institution NITTE School of Management(NSOM), Bengaluru is an Autonomous
B-School in Bengaluru. NSOM is a constituent of NITTE Educational Trust. Nitte has its roots in a
group of Institutions established by the Nitte Education Trust. The Trust was established in 1979
by one of India’s respected Statesmen, the Late Justice KS Hegde, Supreme Court Judge and
Speaker of Lok Sabha, with the mission of empowering rural youth through quality education
and healthcare. The Trust has established 40+ institutions spread over three campuses at Nitte,
Mangalore, and Bengaluru.

NITTE School of Management, Bangalore is a much sought-after destination for the

PGDM Program, with PAN India’s presence of students of high caliber. The Institute
is committed to developing business leaders and corporate professionals who think
globally, act strategically, and contribute to the society in which they operate.

We are an autonomous B-School approved by AICTE, offering a two-year full-time Post
Graduation Diploma in Management. Being a proud constituent of NITTE Group, we have
carved a name for ourselves in the firmament of management education since 2009. We have
earned appreciation and patronage purely on account of our teaching standards, student
services, placement records, and affinity towards quality education and society concerns.

The faculty team at NSOM helps students in identifying their inherent strengths and advises
them to choose the right specialization so that they excel in their academics and careers.

 Our Founder
JUSTICE K S HEGDE
Founder, Nitte Education Trust

K. S. Hegde was born in Kowdoor village and had his early education at Karkala
and Mangalore. Thereafter, he pursued his collegiate education in Madras at the
Presidency College and got his B.A (Honors) in Economics and later, a Degree in
Law from the Government Law College, Madras.

He began his legal practice at Karkala in 1936 and later moved to Mangalorec, where
he was appointed Public Prosecutor of South Kanara distri t in 1948. He was elected
Member of the First Council of States (now known as the Rajya Sabha). In 1954, he
represented India at the General Assembly of the United Nations. He then became a
Judge of the Mysore High Court. In 1966, he was appointed as the first Chief Justice
of the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh High Court. He held this office till he was elevated
to the post of Judge of the Supreme Court of India in 1967. However, he resigned
from this office in 1973 in protest against the supersession of senior judges in the
appointment of the Chief Justice of India. In 1977, Justice K S Hegde was elected to
the Lok Sabha and was elected Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
He held this office till 1980. After a distinguished career, he retired from public life
and settled at Nitte to relentlessly work for the upliftment and empowerment of the
rural people. Justice K S Hegde passed away on May 25, 1990.

Nitte Education Trust® (NET) Mangalore is a distinguished trust in the field of

education
in the state of Karnataka, INDIA. The Institutions under NET include Nitte deemed
University and colleges for engineering, medicine, dental, management, architecture,
and schools.

Nitte Education Trust was founded in the year 1979 by the committed philanthropist
and legal luminary, Justice K S Hegde, who strongly believed that education was
pivotal to
the progress of a community. The president of the trust Mr. N V Hegde and an eminent
educationist Dr. N R Shetty, share the views of Justice K S Hegde.

Dr. N.R. Shetty, Chairman, NITTE School Of Management, is a doyen in the field of Higher
Education in India and abroad. He is the pioneer of several Institutions under the aegis
of NITTE Education Trust. He has headed and been a part of a number of high power
committees on higher education and also created revolution in education system and
administration in India. His contribution to education, culture and society bears stamp
of excellence for several decades.Presently, he is the Chancellor of Central University of
Karnataka at Kalaburgi, Karnataka

Business schools in India have played a major role in bridging the gap between
academia and corporates. There is an increasing need for B-schools to tailor their
management education in tune with changing themes and schemes of the business
world. I am happy to note that, NITTE School Of Management has adapted itself
to industry requirements and designed its curriculum accordingly. Today’s business
students are tomorrows corporate leaders. A close rapport between business schools
and industry is a must.

I am aware that NITTE School Of Management had introduced Industry relevant

specializations such as Management Consulting, Business Analytics, Healthcare
Management, in addition to General Management specializations on finance, banking,
marketing, HR and OD.

In designing this all-new PGDM program, the institute has kept in mind the dynamism
and creativity of budding managers as also the requirements of the 4.0 era of
industrial revolution.

At NITTE, we have designed our PGDM program to achieve that goal. With more than
40+ years of experience in running several quality educational institutions, NITTE
Group is uniquely positioned to deliver on that promise. Innovation and leadership
run in our DNA and we know
what it takes to make thinkers and leaders out of young men and women.
Youth is the strength of India and our curriculum reflects that. Our courses on digital
marketing, analytics, and IFRS have no equivalent among other B-Schools in India.

Abraham Maslow, great management writer once said, ‘If you have hammer on
hand, you will find every object as a nail’. On the same line, students and faculty
of an institution may make use of a publication if there is one. Bringing out a
periodical house magazine is another welcome addition to many new things
happening at Nitte School of management, Bengaluru. Knowledge is meant for
sharing among interested stake holders and even general public. A good book
or an article is capable of turning even an uninitiated into active participant.
Management Institute is a part of business world for reasons more than one.
Students and teachers must make it a point to share thoughts on variety of
domain areas.

I wish that ‘NSOM Times’ will live up to such expectations. A publication is truly a
voice of an institution. Its sharing of thoughts must ideally resonate the aspirations
and ethos of the institution. I request the teachers to guide their students on how

The PGDM program, approved by AICTE for a duration of two years, is distinguished by
three key dimensions: a robust corporate interface, unrestricted access to knowledge, and
an unwavering emphasis on the future. Noteworthy for both its content and delivery, the
program spans two years at Nitte School of Management. Offering a distinctive feature set,
the PGDM course provides students with the option to specialize in a range of over eight
specializations.

 IT Resources
Nitte School of Management has a well-
equipped computer lab with 60+ computers
installed with industry-standard software such
as SAP, Tableau, Python, Power BI, and other
software used in the industry. The college
provides 24/7 Wi-Fi access throughout
the campus, allowing students to stay
connected and access online resources and
study materials from anywhere on campus.
The college has installed CCTV cameras
throughout the campus for the safety and
security of students and staff.
The digital library at Nitte School of
Management provides students with access
to a vast collection of online resources,
e-books, and research papers, helping them
in their research and study work. The Learning
Management System (LMS) allows students
to access course materials, communicate
with faculty, submit assignments, and track
their progress.

SAP- Training Lab
Nitte School of Management is a leading management
institute that offers SAP training modules such as
FI/CO, MM, and SD to its students. The SAP training
modules are designed to help students understand
the endto-end business processes and operations
in organizations, and provide hands-on experience
with the latest industry-standard software.
The FI/CO module in SAP provides financial
management and accounting functionalities, while
the MM module helps businesses manage their
procurement and inventory management processes.
The SD module helps businesses manage their
sales and distribution processes. The college has
experienced faculty who are experts in SAP and
can provide students with practical knowledge and
industry insights.
The SAP training at Nitte School of Management is

Our library has a rich collection of resources

that includes 30,000 books (print+online),
2500 National and international journals
and magazine (print + online), case studies,
project reports, and much more. We also
have institutional membership of National
Digital Library of India and Proquest
Database Subscription, offering users
remote access to these resources.

We understand the importance of user-friendly

library services and, therefore, have the KOHA
automation software to maintain library operations
like book issue, return and reservation, making the
process easy and efficient. We also offer a range
of services like membership, anytime circulation,
open access, and online public access catalog
(OPAC) facilities.

Our library staff is well-trained and dedicated to

providing excellent service to library users. They
are available to help users collect, evaluate, and
manage information related to their research or
studies. Our library also offers case studies and
project reports, which can be useful for students

 Placement Overview
The Placement Department initiatives several placement avenues and enhancing
prospects towards scouting activities. The department handles all aspects of campus
placements for the graduating students at NITTE School Of Management. The Placement
wing provides employment opportunities to students through campus recruitments,
pooled campus and off-campus recruitments. The Placement process is initiated with
a clear focus on the students from all academic levels. All levels of the companies
are contacted and invited for the campus recruitment drive which matches different
academic levels of students. Branch specific core companies are focused equally to
ensure students obtain the right match of their passion and competency. The department
is well equipped with excellent infrastructure to support every stage of the placement
process. Arrangement for Pre-Placement Talks, interviews, Group Discussions etc. are all
handled by the staff at the office.

Placement Process
» A cordial Invite is sent to the companies inviting them to visit NITTE School Of
Management and participate in the campus recruitment process
» Companies are requested to furnish entire details of the open position like Job title ,
description , eligibility criteria , salary structure etc, the same would be communicated
to the students accordingly
» Suitable dates for the campus recruitment drive would be decided as per mutual
convenience and students would be informed about the same
» All students who are eligible for the campus placement drive report at the college
before the stipulated time and mark their signature on the registration sheet
» The students are seated in the respective Seminar hall/ Auditorium notified for
the pre – placement talks The company would first initiate the pre-placement talk
wherein they provide a clear picture about the company and the current job position
and benefits etc
» After the pre-placement talk, the companies would initiate the written test followed
group discussion or by series of Interviews technical, HR rounds etc
» After the completion of the selection procedure on-campus, most of the companies
would announce the final list of selected students and offer letters will be rolled out
to the prospective students
