What’s new

For your practice

Xero HQ
● Expandable client list – You can now expand your client list in Xero HQ to fill the whole
screen. This makes it easier to see the information you want if you’ve added extra columns
to the list.

For your clients

Reports
Improvements to all reports
● To help you get started with the new reports, there’s now in-app help and education on
some new report screens – a new ‘Tips and Tricks’ panel.
The panel has a product tour, videos and links to Xero Central articles. The panel also
appears in the layout editor, to help you customise your reports.
● Now you can create your own report pack from scratch. It’s available from the Management
Report overflow menu, or you can search for it. Add any new reports you want to the pack,
and save it to reuse.
● If you want to see more on a screen, select the new Compact view toggle. This reduces the
space between rows. Once you set your preference, it becomes your default view for all
new reports. But you can toggle it off and on whenever you like.
● You can now add notes right next to account names or figures in all our new reports. This is
great for adding context and explaining what’s going on.

Improvements to our transactional-style reports

● Non-scrolling column headings – A new header bar means the column headings stay at
the top of the screen as you scroll down the report.
● New Contact and Invoice Number columns in the Account Transactions report – You
can now add these columns to the default report. You can sort, group and filter
transactions by these columns, too.

1
● Receivable and Payable Invoice reports: new features and improvements
We have added:
○ Three new columns: Last payment date, Status, and Contact account number
○ Common formats to the summary and detail reports for all quotes and purchase
orders, including those outstanding
○ Top Suppliers and Top Customers reports
You can also:
○ Include quotes on your Receivable Invoice reports, and purchase orders on your
Payable Invoice reports
○ Include prepayments on both reports
○ Filter the reports by source, to show only quotes or purchase orders, and
prepayments
● A new common format for the Cash Summary report: ‘Working capital with other cash
movements’.

Improvements to our financial-style reports

● Choose report dates and compare periods more easily using the calendar at the top of a
report. Select how many periods to compare, and compare the same date range in a
previous month, quarter or year, or with the end of the selected period.

Business snapshot in Analytics Plus

● Display metrics relevant to your business in the Business snapshot, and hide
less-relevant ones.
When you click the Edit metrics button, there’s a new Show or hide metrics option in the
side panel. From there, select the metrics you want to see.

Short-term cash flow

● Update your payment dates directly from Xero Analytics and Analytics Plus – You no
longer need to go to the Invoices screen to update expected and planned payment dates
on invoices and bills – you can do so in bulk directly from Xero Analytics.

New invoicing
● Make small changes or correct errors on paid invoices – Once an invoice has been paid,
use the Edit button in the overflow menu to edit fields such as Tracking, Account code or
the Description field without having to remove the payment.

2
New look and usability for common features
● Quotes now look the same as new invoicing – We’ve also added new features, such as
the ability to include files as email attachments when sending a quote in Xero.
● Batch deposits and the Bank rules ‘create and edit’ screen have been refreshed.
The functionality hasn’t changed.

Xero Accounting mobile app

For iOS
● The ‘Balance in Xero’ and ‘Statement balance’ figures now appear on the mobile
dashboard for each bank account.
● A new ‘Manage’ button changes the type of account balance displayed, and the order of
the bank accounts on screen.
● Two new types of adjustments available – When reconciling a difference between a
bank-statement line and an invoice or bill, you can now make bank fees adjustments and
minor adjustments.

Android users will have these features soon.

For Android
● Create new Spend and Receive Money transactions from Find and Match when app users
reconcile their account.

Apps
Xero App Launcher
● In February we released the Xero App Launcher, which makes it easier to access your
connected apps, and switch between them within Xero.
Over 170 apps are now integrated with the App Launcher. If you don’t have any apps
connected yet, click the App Launcher icon to browse the Xero App Store.

Hubdoc
● Automatic contact matching – Hubdoc now matches the supplier it extracts from a
document with your contacts in Xero, and automatically fills in the Contact field for you.
● Improved contact search function – When you start typing a contact name in Hubdoc, the
Xero contact now appears more quickly.

3
WorkflowMax
● WorkflowMax clients can now create invoices based on folders – WorkflowMax users
can now invoice their quote or job folders, and export the folder lines to their invoice in
Xero. This means users can invoice their customers based on phases, rather than just on
tasks and costs.

Repeating invoices
Repeating Invoices save time for regular sales to specific customers. Set up a repeating invoice
template, so Xero creates a new invoice each period automatically.
● If it’s the same amount each month, click Approve for Sending so that each month, Xero
will create the invoice, approve it and email it to your customer.
● If the amount varies each month, set it up as Draft, so there’s an invoice waiting every
month, for you to enter the amount and send.
● Add dynamic placeholders so the description and reference fields show the correct month
or year on each invoice.

Navigating reports
● To quickly get to the bottom of a page, use the End key.
● To return to the top of the page, use the Home key.
● If you have a Mac keyboard without Home and End keys, use Command and the Up and
Down arrows instead.

X-tras
● Enhanced search function on Xero Central – When you search, the results now include
learning content, not just articles and guides.
● Bank Feed Status blog is now on Xero Central to make it easier to find. It’s a great way to
check the status of a bank feed, and get information about issues and resolutions.
● Product Ideas update:
○ By the end of June, we’d received over 800 new ideas and over 5,000 votes.

4
○ We’ve delivered 21 of these new ideas, and our teams are working on 18 more.
