Sustainability is a concept that aims to modify and maintain human

influence on the environment. The importance of sustainability is rising
exponentially and becoming an issue for future human survival. Large
corporations, firms, and government organizations are taking the
concept of sustainability very seriously, thus creating a new scope of
opportunities in the sustainable sector.

A sustainability team is the most common way firms, and companies

make a sustainable environment. The team is to help suggest
and inculcate eco-friendly ways wherever possible in the company's
workings. Their work may involve educating employees about
sustainability, devising relevant measures, and implementing them.
Members of such a team are usually employees who voluntarily apply
for such positions. Besides the apparent moral gratification, companies
build their reputation and attract customer appreciation and talented
employees. Furthermore, the "sustainability manager" comes into the
picture to manage such a team.
Sustainability managers are skilled individuals specifically towards
sustainable sciences and are experts in their fields and handle the
science behind the efforts towards sustainability. Their work involves
keeping the environmental legislation, stakeholders, and the public in
mind during decision-making. They can create and enforce specific
policies for the company by supervising the ecological impact of the
institute they are working for and, simultaneously, ensuring that the
institute's needs and profit are sustainably maintained. Sustainability
managers generally have excellent public speaking and leadership skills.

Sustainable managers are of many types, depending on the work they

do. One of the more specific job titles includes a 'Chief Sustainability
Officer'. They are more industry-specific and work on a ground scale.
They focus on resource conservation, tallying energy consumption,
handling recycling, sustainable architecture and addressing the
stakeholders and their concerns.

A sustainability manager at least requires a bachelor's degree in

environmental sciences or a similar degree. MBA in the fields like
environmental policy, sustainable energy management or economics is
essential for any suitably good post. This career requires a solid
knowledge base in environmental science and engineering and the tools
and methods involved in constructing infrastructure.

Another typical job emerging in the field of sustainability is an

environmental geologist. They are specialist who helps find alternative
sources of energy and resources. They do that by studying the history
and nature of the planet and helping build maps aided by high-end
technology. Environmental geologists help protect the environment by
finding and establishing a geologically safe location for new landfills,
disposal sites, and nuclear power plants. They are responsible for
preventing soil and groundwater contamination and helping clean up
contamination from leaking gas tanks or spills.

Besides the oil and gas industry, they are in high demand by
engineering firms, companies and government agencies. A bachelor's
degree in environmental science or geology is necessary for entry-level
jobs as an environmental geologist. An internship or MBA can enhance
your skills to open the gates for extraordinary opportunities.

The government of India is also trying to grow awareness while

simultaneously creating new opportunities for the sustainable sector.
CSIR-NEERI is a research institute created and funded by the
Government of India. Their major field of study includes Sustainability
analysis related to industrial activity/process and environmental
sustainability assessment. Currently, CSIR-NEERI is working on many
projects headed by masters and PhD students.

People and corporations are building Numerous jobs and workspaces

around this noble concept of sustainability. A person enthusiastic
enough can easily make a career in preserving the environment and
creating a better future.
Sustainability is a very crucial topic these days. Examining the current
situation of pollution, rising industrial waste and depleting human
resources is essential to provide awareness about career opportunities in
sustainable development to make our youth reliable for their future. The
article broadly explains two major jobs arising in the sustainable sector,
but I think it should also explore many other rising jobs, like an
environmental engineer, ecologist, and environmental consultant. This
ensures that every type of enthusiasm about the environment can be
utilized for a better future. I also suggest adding more about the
knowledge of educational degrees and skills required for a successful
future in the sustainable sector.
