Planetary gears
Risk of causing damage to the rotary drive!
Milky clouding of the oil indicates the entry of water. The rotary drive could be damaged during sub-
sequent operation.
Δ Take an oil sample, have the oil analyzed, and change the oil if there is a negative result to the
oil analysis.

Risk of causing damage to the planetary gears!

Faulty hydraulic motors can lead to an increased oil level in the planetary gears. The planetary
gears could be damaged during further operation.
Δ Shut down the rotary drive.
Δ Take an oil sample and have the oil analyzed.
Δ Have the defect repaired by skilled personnel immediately.

Checking the oil level

Risk of causing damage to the planetary gears!

An incorrect oil level can damage the planetary gears during subsequent operation.
Δ The oil level must be in the green-marked range "X" of the level indicator (1).

Prerequisite:

– The rotary drive has been at standstill for at least 15 minutes.

– Rotary drive is in the vertical position.

• Check the oil level at the rel-
evant level indicator (1).

If the oil level is

above the green-marked range
"X", there is too much oil and/or
accumulations of fluid in the
gears. The rotary drive could be
damaged during subsequent op-
eration. Adjust the filling level
accordingly or analyze and re-
pair the fault.

Oil level is below the green-

marked range "X":

• Replenish the oil as de-

scribed in "Changing the
oil".

• Oil level is OK, if it is within

the green-marked range
"X".

Changing the oil

Prerequisite:

– Oil is at operating temperature.

– A suitable container for the waste oil is available.

– The rotary drive is positioned vertically.

• Place a suitable container

for catching the waste oil
beneath the discharge
openings (3).

• Remove the screw plugs

from the discharge open-
ings (3).

• Remove the screw plugs

from the filler holes (4).

✓ Waste oil drains off.

At low ambient temperatures rinse with a heated subset of the oil.

• Clean the screw plugs and

sealing surfaces.

• Check the seals for wear

and make sure they are
intact.

• Replace damaged or worn

seals with new ones.

• Mount the screw plugs on

the discharge open-
ings (3).

• Pour the new oil into the

filler holes (4) using a suit-
able filling unit.

• Check the oil level as de-

scribed in the section
"Checking the oil level".

• Mount the screw plugs on

the filler holes (4).

✓ The oil change has been

properly carried out.

Emptying the expansion tank

Under normal conditions there should only be a small amount of hydraulic oil in the collecting con-
tainer. If there is a larger accumulation of hydraulic oil, it is an indication of one of the following
problems:

– The hydraulic oil is too cold during a cold start/during the warm-up phase in the winter
months.

– The drilling tool is lifted during the drilling process, resulting in pressure peaks in the leak-oil
lines.

– Contaminated or clogged leak-oil filter in the upper carriage.

– Loose or unconnected leak-oil coupling.

– Faulty hydraulic motor.
