Operation Kid Comfort ASYMCA Project Strong Communities is offering FREE quilts to children of deployed soldiers through our Operation Kid Comfort Program here at the Fairgrounds YMCA! [Please note-- if the families have moved back home during the deployments, we will mail the quilts to them as well]. Operation Kid Comfort addresses the emotional stress that children suffer during a parents absence from home due to a routine or extended deployment. We offer photo transfer quilts that bear the images of the deployed family member, alone and/or interacting with the family, are made for each child in order to help comfort them. These quilts are durable, washable and meant for the child to cuddle with, play with and sleep with. We offer lap quilts free to children of deployed Soldiers. Each quilt uses up to 9 photos which can be emailed or disk (preferrred) or snail mailed for scanning. Minimum usable size is 3x5 though 4x6 and larger are optimal as we resize to 4x4. I have found that the more photos one uses the better. Attached please find the application that you can print out and give to the military families. You can visit our website at www.watertownymca.org <http://www.watertownymca.org/> also. Please have the families email their applications and photos to okcfortdrum@yahoo.com <mailto:okcfortdrum@yahoo.com> . Or, they may drop them off to our YMCA Fairgrounds site off of Coffeen Street in Watertown. If you or the families have any question, please call (315) 755-2016!
