1 Overview
This document describes how to clean the imaging oil system from ink sludge etc.
There are a number of situations that call for the imaging oil system to be cleaned, these are some of
the scenarios:
● When the PIP temperature is too high, or there are scratches on the PIP foil.
CAUTION: Use protective gloves and glasses when performing these procedures.
Always use the correct hose clamps, and make sure to tighten them.
Prerequisites
None
4. Remove the 2 screws holding the reservoir, on the lower right side of the base bracket.
5. Drain the remaining imaging oil from the imaging oil reservoir.
6. Remove the plastic separator from the reservoir.
8. Disconnect the upper metal connector (to the imaging oil filters). A second person is required to
loosen the nut from behind the reservoir (30 mm open wrench).

9. Disconnect the hoses and clean the fittings between the reservoir and the imaging oil filters.
3. Measure the inner diameter of the flow reduction fitting. If the diameter is 4.5 mm, replace the
fitting with the new type (P/N CA341–32991).
If the diameter is 5.3 mm, clean the fitting.

4. Re-install the flow reduction fitting into the hose. (The hose will be re-installed later.)
4. Clean inside the cleaning station pump (not with a screw driver, with lint-free wipes).
3. Re-connect the hose (containing the flow reduction fitting) to the cleaning station pump.
3. Use the air gun to gently clean the turbine vane. Take care not to harm the internal vane of the
turbine.

After cleaning
2. Disconnect and drain the hose from the cleaning station drain to the DFS vessel.
4. Remove the metal rod from the top of the DFS vessel.
8. Re-install the DFS vessel float system into the DFS vessel.
9. Verify that the floats that the floats have free movement:
NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is mounted correctly inside the valve.
Tighten all the screws, to make sure that there will be no leaks from the GC valve.
6. Re-install the GC valve, hoses and fittings.
7. At the rear of the press, disconnect the hoses and clean the fittings between the GC valve and the
imaging oil reservoir.
8. Disconnect, clean and re-install the fitting on the lid of the imaging oil reservoir.
CAUTION: Protect the main line filter and varistors (located beneath the blower hood) by
covering them with 2-3 sheets of paper to avoid drops of water reaching the filter or varistors.
2 Line filters
a. Release the drain hose from the lower right corner of the blower hood.
d. Release the water input and output connections and the solenoid switch electrical connector
from the rear of the hood.
1 Flexible duct hose 4 2 screws in the top bracket (front and back)
2 Electrical connection 5 Water input and output connections, solenoid switch electrical connector
3 Drain hose
2. Refill the imaging oil in reservoir and filters. Make sure that the reservoir is filled to the correct
level.
